To be fair, WCW/TNA actually paid their employees, while Heyman jerked wrestlers on a regular basis during that time. In that case, he actually was a bad businessman because the employees come first, while everything else is an added bonus. ECW should have just stuck to being a regional affair, rather than expanding so rapidly, thus losing a shyt load of money in the process. Not even the shytty ass games and toys could get the company out of the red.

Would’ve filled the niche ROH eventually did. A lot of the founding fathers of the early 2000’s Indy scene were already getting booked in other feds so it would’ve been a matter of time till they landed in ECW. Heyman’s mentioned in the past Punk was on their radar and it’s possible that Bryan had traveled to attend their shows since another graduate of Shawn Michaels’ training camp, Michael Shane, was on their roster. In terms of if it would’ve sustained itself and survived, that’s a harder question with many variables but I see ECW fulfilling that niche albeit with a more built in brand recognition. I do think though Heyman might’ve eventually had a creative burnout and might’ve deferred some responsibility to whomever would be on his team at that time, possibly a younger Gabe.

Heyman, Dreamer and Sapolsky booking

Like Heyman stated, more hybrid MMA stuff, way more flippy highflying (Low-Ki, Styles, Daniels etc)

This...I think dreamer eventually leaves for WWF/E and Gabe gets more office power. ECW eventually gets sold to carry or another money guy and eventually gets absorbed by a corporate entity.

Necro Butcher would've been mentioned with Cactus Jack and Terry Funk among the mainstream hardcore kings.

Guys like Hero, American Dragon and others would've been the 2000s Malenkos and Guerreros.

Deathmatxh wrestling might have faded away still, but it would've been popular a little longer.

Wonder what would happen to CZW. They started in '99, I think.

Would ROH and TNA exist?

Pedo started ROH with a pawn shop owner from Philly because with no ECW, RF couldnt sell fan cams. It’s 50/50 Jarrett starting TNA. With ECW around, TNA never gets on tv
