Why do people act like slaves ONLY came from Africa?. The slaves were also born here. There were slaves in America for HUNDREDS OF YEARS. As soon as a mother had her baby, it could have been sold off. If the slaves born here had access to guns, and books, you damn right they would have stopped the shyt or at least made it hard to do. Why do you think people were scared when they were freed?. They thought they were going to get payback, that's why they made it hard for blacks to get guns after that, and finding ways to put them in prison.

Yes, I think the BEST case presented to why an armed citizenry matters and why it puts fear into the government is the Civil Rights Movement and subsequent years.

Think about it, the US Government already had tanks, bombers, atomic weapons but the white politicians sure as fukk did not like "negroes" arming themselves legally and advocating insurrection.

Even bytch ass Ronald Regan was quick to tap dance on the 2nd Amendment when he saw Black Panthers walking around legally armed.

Africans were trading the tribes they conquered so how would having guns stopped the slave trade?

that's a cop out cacs made up to spread the blame for the crimes they commited during the Trans Atlantic Slave trade...The African nations Europeans shipped their slaves from were their colonies and the Africans whom allegedly participated in the slave trade were there subjects/victims of the same European colonist/slave traders as African slaves ...The Trans Altantic slave trade was affair dominated by the Europeans not a trade agreement between Europeans and Africans..It was Europeans taking what they want by the barrel of a gun and some Africans forced to participate to spare themselves....If Africans had equivalent firepower/guns to fight back they would've have neverbeen colonized or enslaved.

The point of slavery is to subjugate a people are you really going to arm them or there people? No you arm there enemies and keep them from unifying in any way. That is what the slavers did and it worked.

Why are conservatives always use MLK as their go to guy when they have to put a black face on a statement? These are the same folks who hated him when he was alive. King must roll over in his grave on a weekly basis with stuff like this.

Doesn't matter how you spin it. Choosing the birthday of a man who died from gun violence for your national rally is disrespectful. Oh yeah King was a big gun nut. Ya know how he was pulling his piece all the time during those marches when he was getting blasted by firehoses and beat with clubs.

I like how firearms are attributed to freedom instead of oppression. It's "why didn't you have guns to keep your freedom?" instead of "why were greedy fat racist lazy white shyts so oppressive with their guns?" Maybe if white folks didn't have slaves, then slavery wouldn't have been a chapter in our history. Conservatives are always distancing themselves from that little reminder that they beat blacks into building this country. Just the good ol' days to them.

I was at a Cornel West lecture when he said this: "White Americans should thank God that there's no such thing as a black Al Queda." As much oppression as we've been through, what reasonable human being would deny our right (probably not these days but certainly before 1960) for a violent resistance?

I don't know about slavery, but this was a key point in a lot of Civil Rights groups, especially in the NOI, Black Panthers, etc..

They realized the immediate benefit of arming themselves legally.
