If Bischoff managed to pull off his purchase of WCW in 2001, how well do you think it would've went?

I've always thought they would've just become TNA status.

They did still have a lot of big names under contract (Hoegan, Nash, Hall, Goldberg, Flair, Sting) but most of their contracts were up within a year or two, so i assume Vince would've signed most of them. Bischoff even if he was able to raise the money for the takeover, didn't have that Turner budget to work with. Maybe Hoegan stays cause of his relationship with Bischoff but that's about it.

The key would be the TV deal, which is what killed the deal in the first place. I feel like they would've got something eventually but TV deals for wrestling back then really weren't that big. It was more for the exposure to sell live shows, PPV and merch.

And Bischoff would've made all the same mistakes that he did when he was at TNA. Pandering to Hogan, working with Russo, just terrible idea all round.

I don't think we lost much in WCW dying. It would've been another shyt show no matter what.

Higher budget indy fed. TNA before TNA minus having brand recognition. Years down the line it’s possible they could’ve eventually become something radically different had they stuck around, they had their own developmental and the indy scene was just about to pop off, maybe ECW still goes under and they sign some of their talent too

I've always thought ECW surviving would've been way more interesting. Heyman working with that new crop of indie dudes....Danielson, Punk, AJ :banderas:

You ever see that terrible and scripted "reality show" he made about the biker gang?

Doesn't leave me thinking he'd be successful as a main creative force

They probably would’ve been fine.

People love to shyt in the last years of WCW and act like it’s the worst thing in the world but the last years of WCW was better or if now on par with the last 10 years of WWE:ld:

They’d probably be around still today

Maybe if somehow part of the sale was renegotiating Hogan, Hall and Nash contracts and getting rid of wrestler creative control clauses.

On paper they would've still had an incredible roster.

Bischoff planned to build WCW around Sean O'Haire had his bid to purchase not fell through.
Couple that in with Goldberg, Steiner, Booker T, Mike Awesome plus they had Bob Sapp training at the Power Plant and were about to sign RVD.

:yeshrug: I'd still prefer a Bischoff ran company over WWE having a full on monopoly :hhh:

WCW wouldve been fine.

they really just had that 1 bad year, and had already turned the product back around.

they wouldve basically had TNA's roster mixed with what they already had, including the big stars. add that to the brand-recognition & bigger platform; they wouldve been in good shape and mainstream wrestling wouldve been way better in the 2000s.

TNA was awesome in the 2000s but never got its props. most of that stuff they were doing would be on a larger scale. TNA, WWA, XWF wouldnt have existed.

all those indy heroes wouldve capped off as ECW TV champ and then left for the WWE or WCW/TNA, with the exception of samoa joe.

aj styles woulda never been in ECW. he wouldve stayed in WCW if they didnt fold.
