waste in gov't spending and that's why I can't take this talking point seriously especially when it's coming from pro- military industrial complex folks
Progressives (minus AOC) voted against a tiny portion of the budget this year and those folks lost their god damn mind over it and then turn around and start waxing lyrical over fiscal repsonsibility

Not if we don't hold elected officials accountable. In all actuality, governing 350+ million people in a republic without spending waste is not an easy thing, but it starts locally. Not a perfect system, but I'd take this over Authoritarian communist bullshyt any day.

No one is defending billionaires. It's the complete lack of prospective and understanding from ya'll. They don’t do anything that ya'll can't do. But instead of thinking how you can use the same system to your benefit you bytch whine and complain. No one is revising the whole tax code so ya'll can tax the hell out of billionaires. Especially when the shyt that is pushed to you all is used by your same politicians you think are advocating for the fluff ya'll want. They're not. The bill got killed in 1 day.

Yeah the nuance of the discussion gets lost on emotional people who just want to stick it to the rich.
Nobody is defending billionaires, but the assertion that they pay a lower dollar amount in taxes is just factually wrong.
I would think that people, regardless of what side of this they're on, would at least want to have their facts straight.
...and I am, apparently, wrong for thinking that.
I have no problem with billionaires paying a higher tax rate. Truthfully, I don't really care either way, but I don't have a problem with the idea. My problem is with the people who think taxing the rich is going to magically fix everything / anything.
The fact is... if Congress really wanted to fix shyt and if Congress needed money to fix shyt, they would just borrow the money, and spend it fixing shyt. There's a reason shyt isn't being fixed, and it has nothing to do with 400 billionaires not paying taxes on unrealized capital gains.
"Tax the rich" is just a political buzzword designed to piss you off and direct your vote to the politicians who are promising that "This will fix shyt!"
