I mean... recent events kinda disagree with some of what you said. American politicians in the Trump era have been acting against Americas monetary interests in favor of white nationalist beliefs
Until you reach a critical population mass, immigration of skilled workers is always a net-plus on your economy (speaking only on economy, not culture, etc)
This is a proven economic truth.
If America was all about a dollar, they would have lessened their restraints on immigration, not tightened them.
@Deacon Frye is right, America would be heading down a Xenophobic path like Japan (which is another country unable to sustain its labor force)
Also, the outside views of America have changed dramatically during Trump.
Many non-Americans see this is a racist-ass country and are honestly good on coming here
Now, will some people come and become the new "2nd class citizens"? yes of course. But I think its overblown man, i really do.
America is just a country, its not special its not different than any other country. Countries around the world like Denmark and Japan and Germany are having issues replacing skilled workers.
