I LOVE IG MODELS
The most important thing it tells me is that Wrestlemania season is not for us, the regular wrestling fans. Wrestlemania season is about drawing in casuals or old fans and the way they do it is by booking big, established names like Goldberg, Lesnar, Undertaker and the Rock. Names they know, famous people, names that draw.
Does this mean WWE can't build new stars? No, I think they can (see Bray, Owens, Harper, Bliss, Four Horsewomen and Corbin - some of those built from scratch, even though they're not a star in the sense of the part timers). What it does mean however is that WWE values drawing in money over providing a story-based wrestling show centred on the people who carry the brands for 9 months of the year (see WK in NJPW).
This understandably frustrates the hell out of us because we want to see the wrestlers who we have valued and bought into for 9 months have the spotlight and acclaim on the 'grandest stage of them all' that they deserve. WWE appear to be unwilling to take the financial gamble (WWE are a business - this is how they will see it) on backing their current roster which does beg the question, what will they do in 5-10 years when they can no longer wheel out some of these part-timers to draw?
