You thought Casion Royale, as a movie was good? Mads Mikkelsen killed it, but that movie was boring and far too forced. Christoph Waltz was used for the entirety of the film after his introduction...what movie did you see?

Anytime someone says Casino Royale was good, I have to question their credibility, or I just flat out consider them neophytes to the franchise...and this is coming from someone who still doesn't like Craig as a Bond. Bautista was praised for his performance as was Waltz...so again you're in the minority, to be fair however, Spectre is for the fans, Skyfall is for the critics.

It would help you understand the Bond tropes; the campy villains, the dark humor, the one liners, etc. Always keep in mind that you're not there to watch North by Northwest, they have always been action films.

I was really being facetious with myself I'm not about 30 Bond movies but if I didn't go as far back as let's say the first Brosnan movie would I understand the Craig movies? Or do they pretty much reset with every actor?

Yeah, the only thing that stays canon, are the characters, Bond, M, Money penny, etc. No Bond film has a sequel. Its like the Final Fantasy series.
