He's had a decent career.. but I don't think Hollywood knows how to measure dude... he's lead actor material... bue he's constantly cast in supporting roles in major films and the few lead roles he's cast in he's miscast (He just didn't fit as Mandela IMO....).

Not too many details... From what I've heard the synopsis sounds somewhat similar to the movie Johnny Mad Dog (I recommend watching it if you can find it)... about an unknown African country engulfed in cival war; That revolves around a rebel army child soldier and his band of kids he commands as they slaughter and pillage their way through the country. And that it's being directed by the cat that directed season 1 of True Detective and Sin Nombre.. Cary Fukunaga.

i thought he did well as mandela, yea he doesnt look like him but he had the accent down. Your right nobody knows how to judge him yet, when your elba you have to take supporting cast roles until he gets over the hump, you cant just wait wait and wait. he should of been the star of pacific rim instead of those two non acting bozos.

i think he personally should stay away doing black american tyler perry type of films. he needs a solid co-star next to him. like a cheadle, washington, chiwetel

london based and africa based movies he would take over.. hollywood movies are dried up with the same shyt, so there's no point to stick around here

I really wish he woulda got that Bond role, but he's gonna be too old to do a series of them once Craig steps down.

He's already cleared the biggest hurdle: he gets casted in racially ambiguous roles. That's saying that he's viewed as a legit actor that he's not only picked for the roles that call for a black guy. He's got plenty of time to find his magnum opus role, but his tv resume is already enough to keep him viewed in high esteem

Yea that one was kinda off odd choice but I think he probably chose it because it's a different character for him. But I know cacs goin to feel some type of way when they see him snuffing that white chick.

As long as he's not her love interest I don't think CAC's will care. Him beating up a white chick will only make them happy by reinforcing negative stereotypes.

He needs to be the new James Bond

@Regular_P is on point with that one..he's going to be too old by the time Craig steps down. The next Bond flick hits next year and then MAYBE the next one will be 2-3 years after which would take us to 2018 maybe 2019 and Elba will be 46. I don't want to see a damn near 50 year old playing Bond anymore. No more of that Roger Moore status

Daniel Craig is that right now but starting as Bond at 46 would be a bit of a stretch

Yeah he was 36 or 38 when he started so that gives more leeway for the producers and things he can do physically. In theory if Idris got the role he'd be 50 by the time his third movie came out. No thank you, I've seen that before and have no desire to see it again.

Idris has done everything from The Wire to Marvel flicks. He's doing the damn thing:salute:

Luther was absolute black excellence:win:

I read he was cast as Merlin in Guy Ritchie's King Arthur trilogy. Black excellence makes it to Camelot brehs:blessed:
