Does the movie state it's set in the 90s or something? Because Sierra Leone and Liberia aren't the only African nations to have gone through a civil war. Nigeria went through one in the late 60s early 70s called the biafran war. Hell the author is nigerian, the music artist who titled his album with the same name was nigeria but the movie is based on another war? Lol perhaps they don't go to specifics by mentioning tribes or locales and just generalize

Beasts of No Nation is a challenging watch, makes City of God look like a walk in the park. Abraham Attah is a revelation. Bravo!
