Pope Francis urges end to violence in M. East, Ukraine for children's sake
children.si.jpg

Pope Francis has made an emotional appeal to the world, calling to stop war, especially in the Middle East and Ukraine, saying that the children who live in conflict zones are suffering most and are deprived of hope and a future.
"Please stop! I ask you with all my heart, it's time to stop. Stop, please!" his voice was breaking as Pope Francis spoke at his weekly Angelus address to believers gathered in Saint Peter's Square in the Vatican.

Francis was making comments devoted to the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I - which started on July 28, 1914 - when he suddenly began his impromptu and emotional speech. He called upon people "not to repeat the mistakes of the past."

"Let us remember that everything is lost in war, nothing is lost in peace…” he said, adding that his thoughts were particularly with people affected by the war in the Middle East, Iraq and Ukraine.

Francis said that he was thinking about all the children, “who are deprived of the hope of a worthwhile life, of a future" in the war-struck regions.

While he was making his address, Hamas and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip, after Palestinian militants violated a 12-hour humanitarian ceasefire on Saturday.

Later on Sunday, however, Hamas finally agreed to a new 24-hour humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip starting at 1100 GMT, but the mutual shelling continued.

As Operation Protective Edge enters its 20th day, the Gaza death toll has reached at least 1,050 - mostly civilians.

I don't have a vested interest in either side brehs, but I'm looking at this CNN interview by Candy Crowley right now with a Palestinian official and the bias is overwhelmingly sickening. I've been keeping up with this current conflict in this war and so I know the facts for the most part.. this bytch just doesn't stop looking for a way to take blame off of Israel. Even with over a 1000 Palestinian civilians dead, she kept trying to force the illustration of a Israel just tired of "it". I'm waiting to see if they mention how those 3 Israeli teens weren't even murdered by Hamas or will they keep the public uninformed to push their agenda. All these dam stations like to claim their above Fox news but they're all the same.

its like back pre-civil right era when whites would make up false accusations and attack black communities. and have the christian whites join them in the attacks.

they have the media all fuqqed up to brainwash everyone to justify this war.

i'm catholic but i'm not buying it. i'm siding with the palestinians here. there's not any amount of brainwashing attempts that can make me change my mind.

these "gentiles" in the media are punks.

Norfeast groovin…
Honestly, it's been really fun watching them spin it because it's becoming more and more obvious the longer this shyt goes on. As bad as this has been, imo the Palestinians really need to see this through now cuz you may not get the world this anti-Israel/pro-Palestine than its becoming right now.

The Palestinians need to play the intifida card right

Hamas needs to make a bold move. But the problem is any conciliatory step they take can be spinned as being a result of the military assault

Am i the only one thinking genocide?

I think that in 50 years or so it will be mainstream to look back at the israel/palestine situation and view it as criminal or a genocide

an interesting article i came across today

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices...hat-helps-israelis-to-hide-facts-9630765.html

There is a reason for this enhancement of the PR skills of Israeli spokesmen. Going by what they say, the playbook they are using is a professional, well-researched and confidential study on how to influence the media and public opinion in America and Europe. Written by the expert Republican pollster and political strategist Dr Frank Luntz, the study was commissioned five years ago by a group called The Israel Project, with offices in the US and Israel, for use by those "who are on the front lines of fighting the media war for Israel".

Every one of the 112 pages in the booklet is marked "not for distribution or publication" and it is easy to see why. The Luntz report, officially entitled "The Israel project's 2009 Global Language Dictionary, was leaked almost immediately to Newsweek Online, but its true importance has seldom been appreciated. It should be required reading for everybody, especially journalists, interested in any aspect of Israeli policy because of its "dos and don'ts" for Israeli spokesmen.

.....................

There is a list of words and phrases to be used and a list of those to be avoided. Schmaltz is at a premium: "The best way, the only way, to achieve lasting peace is to achieve mutual respect." Above all, Israel's desire for peace with the Palestinians should be emphasised at all times because this what Americans overwhelmingly want to happen. But any pressure on Israel to actually make peace can be reduced by saying "one step at a time, one day at a time", which will be accepted as "a commonsense approach to the land-for-peace equation".

Dr Luntz cites as an example of an "effective Israeli sound bite" one which reads: "I particularly want to reach out to Palestinian mothers who have lost their children. No parent should have to bury their child."

The study admits that the Israeli government does not really want a two-state solution, but says this should be masked because 78 per cent of Americans do. Hopes for the economic betterment of Palestinians should be emphasised.

and here's a video out of gaza from the other day
