"War zones are not easy places to collect statistics.

In the Gaza conflict, most news organisations have been quoting from the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), which leads a group of humanitarian organisations known as the Protection Cluster.

Its recent report said that as of 6 August, 1,843 Palestinians had been killed and 66 Israelis and one Thai national since Israel launched Operation Protective Edge on 8 July.

Of those Palestinians, the status of 279 could not be identified, at least 1,354 were civilians, including 415 children and 214 women, the UN body reported.

So there were 216 members of armed groups killed, and another 725 men who were civilians. Among civilians, more than three times as many men were killed as women, while three times as many civilian men were killed as fighters.

The UN report carries a caveat with its figures: "Data on fatalities and destruction of property is consolidated by the Protection and Shelter clusters based on preliminary information, and is subject to change based on further verifications."

  • It was not immediately clear how the renewed hostilities would affect the indirect negotiations in Cairo between Israel and Hamas, the dominant militant group in Gaza, for a more durable cease-fire agreement. But it was clear that the negotiations, backed by the United States and the United Nations, had not yet satisfied Hamas, which refused to extend the temporary lull. The Israeli government said in a statement that it would “"not hold negotiations under fire.”

Everyone magically has amnesia when it comes to the Jewish state (unless it does something wrong, they remember it forever). This is Cast Lead all over again.

In the last Gaza war, Hamas said 50 combatants were killed. Years later, admitted it was actually 600-700 (a number identical to the IDF investigation).

Now the same thing is happening, yet the hysteria repeats itself, with Hamas numbers unquestioned.

I would not even take this question serious unless you lived there in the 40's.

Because history is just His Story, so who knows what to believe.

You would have needed to live there to really know what was going on.

People still believe moses parted the red sea with a magic staff.

Except few, the media and UN have lost all credibility in this conflict. No shots of Hamas militants in battle, believing whatever casualty number hamas gives, UN giving back weapons to Hamas. Seems like everyone have forgotten Hamas are an internationally recognized terrorists.

Tens of millions of ethnic Slavs died as well. Under-reported fact.
