Nothing in your story points to that. The father is grateful for the treatment provided by the EMTs. That's not the same as saying that there was a public health hazard. "Jakelin's father took care of Jakelin -- made sure she was fed and had sufficient water," the statement said. "She had not suffered from a lack of water or food prior to approaching the border."
Still, his lawyers called for an investigation that "will assess this incident within nationally recognized standards for the arrest and custody of children. The family intends to assist in such an investigation into the cause and circumstances of Jakelin's death."
The cause of death has not been determined. She may have picked up a viral or bacterial infection. All of this will be specified when the coroner's report comes out. The point of everyone's outrage is that 7 year old's don't just die randomly.
