You're trying too hard, breh. There are better examples of most overrated on The Coli. You're allowed to think SC is overrated but the most? :mjlol:

What's overrated about SC to you?

Everything about it is overrated on here..it doesn't have any standout, legendary tracks that most classics tend to have..its a decent album at best.

Cherchez LaGhost was a minor club hit.

Mighty Healthy alone was the basis for New God Flow.

Lloyd Banks on "Poppin Them Thangs" said "hell yeah I fukk fans", which is a direct reference to the immortal line in Mighty Healthy.

Just Blaze and Kanye are on record saying that they patterned Blueprint after Supreme Clientele. Kanye is on record saying he patterned his own solo shyt after Ghostface on Supreme.

But SC didn't stand out. How Sway?

I kinda know what you mean about 'no standouts' in the sense that there's no "Nuttin But a G Thang" level song on SC. But SC is super raw, super real hip hop. No radio friendly shyt on there at all. Only heads really know SC like that. But almost all heads think that album is phenomenal. Every song.

The record sales only crowd endlessly 4get that boom bap ISN'T COMMERCIAL FRIENDLY g funk is. Funk at its core is a dance genre, James Brown expressly said so himself; he got tired of slow soul songs so he doubled it up and started rockin out.

Left Coast producers didn't even use sample collages or alter them that much. Very often they were damn near copy and paste.

Fans of older Black music who were upset about Funk being phased out by hip hop were happy 2 see it return albeit in a re imagined way. Beats from music hit u 1st consciously or unconsciously so many were prolly listening 2 the beat and remembering the lyrics 2 the original.

90s Left Coast was commercial friendly Boom bap was made 2 sonically reflect the apathy and hardships of NY/NJ hoods so by definition it was the Xact opposite. The 2 aren't comparable so u can't make an argument based off it.

so when he was doing Papa's Got a Brand new bag and Funky Drummer, that was him trying to speed shyt up? Are you saying that's more East Coast leaning or West Coast leaning?

Left Coast? You mean West Coast.

You're saying fans of older Black funk were happy to see G-Funk come in, right?

Left Coast? You mean West Coast.

Most of his songs startin in the late 60s were made with dance in mind

Left Coast is another term for West since it's the Left side of the states.

Yes I'm saying older Black folk were happy 2 hear funk return after it being absent from its 79s and 80s prominence. They got James Brown, P Funk,
Synth funk/ Roger Troutman, Prince and Cameo back all at once

The fukk nikka yo comment is disgusting.
An album and production that inspired Blueprint, Kanye Just Blaze and Jay Z all at once overrated? FOH
Dude has point... I love SC as much as the next man but slander against that album (particularly in the booth) will get you negged into oblivion. OB4CL > SC

and Cube has a couples albums that are close too or near SC in terms of impact and influence.

I'm in record saying Cuban Link is a top 3 album period its def better than SC. Cubes 1st 3 albums are better than SC and Ironman agreed but it doesn't have to B binary.

U can say that some people over rate Wu on this board and i wouldn't disagree but by contrast the people who dislike them seem 2 in the same fanatic fashion. It's ok 2 praise both even if u prefer 1 over the other.

interesting. I agree with you in G-Funk being more mainstream friendly. It's not as hard as boom bap.

My dad is a huge James Brown fan and I listened to a lot of that growing up. My earliest experiences with hip hop were MC Hammer. especially that Funky Headhunter album.

I completely disagree. As far as albums go, I think SC is the best album the Wu ever put out. As in, front to back music.

Cuban Linx probably had a bigger impact, and certain joints like Incarcerated Scarfaces and Crimonology are more 'epic', but SC is a more enjoyable listen.

As someone who has Ghost one notch above Cube (#3/4) I'll say Cube is unrivaled in Hip-hop with Death Certificate when it comes to solo albums and impact. Count in his legacy and as a solo artist he has more of a stamp on Hip-hop than Ghost, or almost any dude not named Pac.

However consistency matters, the more Cube blew the more his music suffered. I'm actually one of the dudes who believes he only really has two bad albums - the Peace disc and I Am The West.

It's not that he can't write, songs like Stand Tall, Laugh Now Cry Later and Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It are vintage Cube. But he'll fill up his albums with a lot of mediocre shyt that's obviously him on autopilot.

Ironically both Cube and Ghost are quite good using an old man flow, slowing it down without sounding flat out lazy (Gza). Ghost just always sounds creative too, Cube rarely does.

IMO you cantwlose either way but it's obvious to me which of the two cares more about the craft at this point (and it's obvious looking at their careers why that might be).

It was the basis of NY flow? :patrice:only rapper who you could say somewhat resembled ghost flow after that album is cam, other than that idk what you talkinabout

And from what you said it seems like producers liked that album more so than the average person(not including ghost stans)

And even if kanye & blaze did pattern blueprint after SC, then that proves my point even more that SC didnt stand out because the blueprint is a overall better album and has well known, classic tracks on it..
