I'll never forget you, SirBiatch
What is it with you posters that are always so affected by things I say? I barely remember stuff y'all say (because it's usually dumb as hell) but y'all remember everything I do/say. Many of y'all bookmark my pages and comments
That influence
also, you're showing your usual colors of mentioning shyt that is totally irrelevant to the subject. fukk has ASAP Rocky/Clams Casino have to do with anything of this? @stomachlines
I say that to say this....Do you remember how Supreme Clientele was recieved in NYC when it dropped??? Because I do....I remember how the first 2 singles Mighty Healthy and Apollo Kids wasnt really making any noise. But then he dropped this song as a single
and it made some noise......The problem was that Jay Z and DMX and Beans and Black Rob were outshining Ghost. It was as ipeople had moved on and was fukking with the new blood.... And I was rooting heavy for Ghost early 2000 when that album dropped too....The numbers I'm refering to is the number of NYC rappers ahead of Ghost when that SC album dropped. You would think that with all the hype u guys give that album it would have overshadowed everyone I just mentioned but it didnt.
what's your point? That great work often isn't embraced on a mass level but then people recognize it for the genius that it is years later while copying the shyt out of it? Because that's fairly business as usual
I was in Saudi when Cherchez came out, and I thought it was wack as fukk. It was just too different from anything that was out. Didn't even bother to listen to Supreme Clientele (though somehow I heard Wu Banga 101 around the same time and fukking loved it - which makes sense because Wu Banga 101 is a lil more 'traditional'). The point is, it's not until 2005/2006 that I even heard Mighty Healthy, and the shyt blew me away. SC is now in my top 2 albums all time.
This is why being a revolutionary artist is tough as fukk. People say they want someone creative and unique but they really don't. so great artists often don't get the support they need to survive until people figure out their brilliance.
