Is it a classic? Not as good as the first two albums but it's great. Some weaker tracks but the highs are very high.
That's what I thought when I listened to it two years ago. I was as the album went on because I was expecting something on the same level as the first two albums. Something about it threw me off.
I think it's just because "When Will They Shoot?" is one of the best opening tracks I've ever heard. It made me think that Cube was picking up right where he left off with Death Certificate and the rest of the album didn't have that same energy.
Not that it matters. It's still really good and it has "It Was a Good Day" and "Who Got the Camera?" on it.
it is indeed but cube was definitely dikk riding cypress and das efx... and isnt this his first official bite on tape? wicked from king sun?I don't know what I was smoking, this album is a classic.

id say its a 8.5/10 but its the beginning of the end. his last classic
he also played the first Lollapalooza around this time, which really expanded his white audience, prob more than NWA did. i feel like theres so many things he did in that period that made him what he is today, good and bad.Yeah, this album feels like more of a victory lap for Cube. He was at a point where everyone was expecting him to say something crazy, and he was dealing with the fallout from the riots, the reaction to Death Certificate, and the fact that he was a huge rap star. His hunger couldn't be the same after that.
But from AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted to The Predator, that's one of the greatest runs in hip hop history. He could have retired after that and still end up in GOAT conversations.
