I've worked physical jobs for over a decade.

Get some great gloves. I like using cut-proof gloves, they have good grip.

Learn to use proper technique when lifting! I have never had back pain or any issues because I lift with my legs and not my back..if something is too heavy to lift alone then get help

Eat well and get plenty of sleep... after a few weeks the work will get easier and you'll even notice some muscle gain. Start hitting the gym as well

You were in a better environment than most then, because I know some of that shyt be moving so fast, no way in hell you can properly lift every single time. Product would be all on the floor.

One shytty job I had years ago I had to lift the disassembled door of a CNC mill machine.

My nuts twisted 540 degrees away from each other and all the other immediately left my lungs.

It felt like I got cracked down the middle and thought my testicles tore off.

It only lasted a couple of seconds and went back to normal almost immediately :whew:.

Remember that pain like it was yesterday and pray I never feel it again. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
Did you get checked for a hernia? :mjtf:

I don't understand. Are you saying your balls (:dame:) got caught in something? Or are you saying it was that heavy where you felt it down deep (:dame:)?

Not immediately. I went to the doctor a few months later and nothing was wrong.

Hurt like a motherfukker. That's all I know.

Closest thing to it was when I was doing some work on my fixer upper.

Piece of drywall hit where the knee and thigh connect.

A minute later all the air is knocked out my lungs and I lay on the floor for ten minutes.

Nerve clusters scary:to:

Just gotta have fun with it, and learn use use proper leverage techniques. All the mexicans that I work with during the summer think I'm some kind of freak of nature with the way I toss and hump materials around lol. A lot of it's mind over matter once you learn to stop restricting yourself.

How many steps do you get per day via work?

IDK tbh I dont even pay attention to it. Ive been here 2 days so far and theres been ALOT of down time.

Not for nothing Gator, I used to be a HEAVY walker. Like 20,000+ steps just going all over KC. Did that alot, and I carried a backpack with 20 lbs worth of textbooks the whole time; everytime. This was a 2 years ago though.

I've never really had a physical labor type job...the closest I came was working in a movie theater standing for 9-10 hours a day. Take care of your joints and back man. Don't wanna ruin your health for a company's profits.

Also, a big part of proper lifting technique that often gets overlooked is to make sure that you don't twist while loading/unloading. Whenever possible get nice and square with the direction you're headed before lifting and once loaded, use your feet to pivot it, not your spine.
