When I caught up with Thea after a production of her latest musical, “My Mama Told Me You Ain’t About Nothing” at the Little Theatre here in Port Arthur Thea seemed at peace with her current state of pop cultural irrelevance. “When I was doing the TV shows and the big budget movies I had a lot of fun, but the stress was just overwhelming. I couldn’t even enjoy a night out at the Golden Corral without being harassed by fans.”

Now she only wants to focus on her future, which includes two theater productions in the coming new year. “Right now I have two big musical plays lined up for early to mid 2015. One is called “Mama, We Out Of Kool-Aid” and the other has a working title of “They Done Locked Tyrone Up Again”. What we want to do with these plays is send an uplifting message to everybody that comes out to watch them, but specifically the black community.
