Yeah I know..its been a cloud over me for years...I couldn't even get in the ARMY because of...ironic thing is I make WAY more as a contractor than the military could pay me.

I need more time to pass..because you're right it is still recent. Yeah its TS/SCI clearance + polygraph ......Im not sweating it though...just means im on the right track

Believe me I know how you feel. I got a marijuana possession charge from 2006 when I was 17 that's screwed me out of a couple opportunities. I tried joining the Army too and got turned away because of it. shyt sucks.

But going for a TS/SCI clearance with your record is a long shot. But like I said it's worth a try. Good luck

How'd you get into contracting anyways? What type of degree or training do you need?

A little over a year ago a military contracting outfit recruited me to come to GA to do software development.....they paid me a sign-on...relocation and gave me almost 45% increase in salary. The rest is history. I went to school for CIS...but I really learned how to program in JAVA at my last job :win:...here I do Oracle database development...hardcore JAVA.....front end web development (jQuery, ajax, CSS,DWR...etc....)

Work in Ga for a few months to year....then work in Maryland

sounds like a NSA contract....but he just threw this out there...we talkin tonite

Not bad. Even so its negotiable unless there is a set budget

also have a backup, a contract can end before set time, and also a forward plan, for when contract ends...

if they company likes work, they can do contract-to-hire, or extend contract.

man, homie -- so they extended an offer w/o you having a clearance? :beli: do you have any clearance right now? sci-poly is no joke tho; i don't want a job where i have to get a poly....they pre-screened you and everything to verify that you are clearable?

When I was taking a computer security class, the instructor was over in Iraq for one yr, made 250K. He just managed their Cisco Routers.

We have the same skill set. With a full scope clearance you are golden around here. Ive been processing for my ts/sci for a year now. Smoked a little weed, got a DUI in 2002 and did some foreign travel. Be prepared for a long ride if NSA is processing your clearance.....

Yeah...the guy that reached out is the same guy that recruited me for my current job...I highly doubt I can get that sort of clearance....but its good to know that I have a decent way since undergrad
