So him sayn he wouldn't have lost to taker at mania is what?
Context is everything. Taker was like 2-0 or 3-0 at that point and the streak wasn’t a thing. Nash had plenty of stroke then and it stands to reason taker would’ve did the favors for him at mania 12 if he’s staying.

It’s logical. Dude droppin’ the belt in December, comin’ up just short at the Rumble, failin’ to recapture the belt in Feb, then losin’ in March cools him off considerably. Since he was gonna leave, it didn’t matter, but if he was gonna stick around, it makes sense that he’d not wanna lose three straight singles matches on PPV. “Then, there goes the streak” is him sayin’ that the streak as we know it never woulda happened, not that being the 1 in 4-1 was his motivation cuz it wasn’t — self-preservation was.

Edit: He dropped the belt in November, not December, but the point is still there.
Yup. He’s still one of your cornerstones at that point. Having him lose 3 big matches in a row would’ve been awful. Taker could’ve taken the loss at mania and been fine though.

I've heard Nash mention this before.

I could see it. Remember they were planning to have Diesel face Michaels at the following PPV, so it would have made more sense to have Diesel come off a win.
