Yea from what other brehs here told me the SD is better than the regular ROG Ally but the Ally X or whatever the higher version that retail for $800 is better than all variations of SD, what you think?
I mainly want it to play retro games from NES-PS2 gens and arcade games. I might play an occasional new game but I mostly want it for the retro games. Are either better than the other for that?
As far as Specs go both versions of the Ally are "Better" than the Steam Deck.
The Steam Deck has the benefit of using Steam OS over Windows, which is more performant than Windows for gaming.
Plus Steam is better integrated into the Steam Deck.
The Ally X is damn near the same Specs as the reg Ally.
One of the main differences is the placement of the SD card slot, Ram, Storage, and Ports.
They both have the same Processor, if you were to buy one, go with the X as the SD card slot in the Reg Ally can become a problem due to overheating.
If you want to play Retro games NES-PS2, either one (ALLY or SD) will do the job.
Hell you could play retro games on your Cellphone if you wanted.
It is also what you want to do via budget.
I got the regular Ally (before the X came Out), and I also bought the R36s cause it was cheap, and dedicated to retro-games, plus comes with a bunch of pre-loaded games. It was a "Convenience" Buy for me.
If you want to play retro games and occasionally new games(Steam), and want to save money go with the Steam Deck.
The performance on the Ally is better, but there are other factors beyond hardware specs.
For me, I wanted a portable PC that could also run other Windows Apps/Programs, with a Windows environment , so the Ally was better choice for me.
