Im from here...lived on the west side as a kid...all my fam is from the West/South side. I grew up playing basketball w/ milk crates, flipping on dirty mattresses in the alley etc...
The hood has always been bad. People just want to feel like they from a special place.
Back then, people were really poor. There wasnt any welfare or food stamps in those days. If you didnt have any money you just was fukked up.
