Try lemon balm. It's very calming, great for anxiety, and memory recall. I like to order mine online from greenbush.net. I've been taking off and on for years. One of the best natural supplements I've ever used. You can put it in your liquids and drink. You can't over dose on it.
Depakote is good, but you will have to get your blood tested regularly while being on it. May cause weight gain.
Another natural supplement that can help with your irritability is L-Theanine. Makes you real mellow and elevates your mood.
Also work out and have sex (if possible ) on the regular. And eating right, not a bunch of sugar and alcohol.
