Genres are all gelling together and making one type of sound with small variations in tempo ...only thing doesn't fit into this mold is country music.

I can feel where you're coming from breh, a lot of the newest music that seems to be pushing the boundaries of what we do as hip-hop producers, which is a style of electronic music, is in the EDM genre. The depth of their production, on the sound design, mixing, etc.. is crazy. I've been trying to branch out too, the learning curve is crazy steep. When I think of the future of music, I think the EDM stuff is the direction things are moving in.

Check out ArtFX channel on youtube, also future music magazine and computer music magazine (both UK publications) and their youtube channels for a lot of good info. Good luck breh.
same, EDM is so much more complicated to produce it really helps when you come back to hip hop with that mindset since edm takes pride in putting effort into your work

I just don't see any future in the shyt for me. Where I am now no one wants to step out of the box and spit on my shyt so my only real option is to spit on it myself and I really don't feel thats my lane.

I've come to the conclusion my vision or w/e would be better suited for electronica...eventually I want to make shyt like this

Real dense danceable drugged out shyt. Pretty much a more upbeat version of what I already do. Its been crazy going back over all my favorite edm albums and just instead of listening taking everything in...the layering, mastering, mixing, eq'ing...its crazy how far I have to go. Just making a simple drum beat and eq'ing it properly so it sounds right (something I've never really done) has opened up my eyes to just how much I've been missing for music in general. I think maybe I'm come back to hiphop in a few months/years but right now I just have been a standstill as far as progression.

If any of you know the go to hardware/software/vst's/tutorials for such music let a brother know, I'm a serious novice with this type of music even moreso than hip hop. Like I have so many dope melodies in my head but finding the right sound/synth/bass for it is just killing me.

I don't even know if any of you nikkas really care but I just felt like venting a lil since I know we all probably had that "moment" where shyt clicked a lil.

When I was listening to this I had a couple thoughts. You know who would spit to that?

1. LL Cool J.

2. Any rapper who is hungry. Rappers would see this beat as a challenge and try to ride it.

Anyways...I can see what you mean. I'm trying to make some R&B music, but my beats are so hip-hoppish
that it's hard to write non-raps on them if you know what I mean. Ah well, F it.

Same breh, I always wanted to be a hip hop producer when I was little but noticed im just better making other music so I just just stuck to that. Just started making hip hop beats again since im working with a rapper and its a been a real exciting since we want to do something different. Ive been trying to incorporate different sounds from influences with other genres and its been real exciting, just make music you feel and not worry about what you should do or what other people feel you should do and you will get better.

Your shyt is dope...don't quit. Maybe you can go for one of those instrumental concept albums with obscure sound bites and movie clips. Those are always fun ti listen to. very cinematic feel but the beats still bump like hip hop stuff. personally, that's what I am aiming for myself.

Some Examples of artists in this genre: RJD2, DJ Shadow, Blockhead, Wax Tailor, Dr Who Dat?, Madlib...also Alchemist's Russian ROulette album is similar although there are several rap verses.
