This season of Discovery is pretty bad but that is because the writing is mediocre and the plots are dull as hell but to complain about Star Trek being to "SJW" or too "woke" (and honestly it pains me to see black people using those terms in the same way that conservative CACs use them) seems odd since diversity and progressive ideals have always been at the core of Star Trek.
I don't hate Discovery because they have lots of Black ppl or gay ppl on it

I've only watched maybe like 3 episodes tops but the entire vibe offends me

Why yall gotta be disingenuous?

Bruh, this is an actual quote from Gene Roddenberry

"We did shows last year about sex, bigotry, unionism, racism and religion. We even did one on Vietnam - disguised of course."
"TV was so tightly censored that science fiction was the only way to escape the taboos in politics, religion, or anything else that was considered controversial. I thought of Star Trek as a Gulliver's Travels [....] When Swift wanted to comment on his time, crooked prime ministers, insane kings and queens.... he would have gotten his head chopped off for it if he'd written it straight. So in Star Trek I did much the same thing. I talked about things you couldn't talk about....sex, religion, union management, labor, all that stuff....It went over the networks' head. But all the 14- and 16-year olds in the audience knew exactly what I was talking about.

Star Trek was always an “SJW” show, they just used to be slicker with delivering the message and the writing was better

When I saw SJW, I mean no subtlety and piling shyt on

So yeah, I guess my issue is bad writing, but I get offended too when Black people, like me, are impressed with themselves just for representation

Nikka make that shyt good

It's not even just bad writing, the entire feel doesn't feel like Star Trek

It's weird people say this because one of, if not the key point and Star Trek was to be about a post racial climate, and further more the breaking of barriers between Alien races. Now if you want to complain that the writing in Discovery is less then stellar, I won't disagree.

Discovery has alternated between being absolutely terrible to kinda OK for it's entire run.
The show started out trying to be "Not Trek" while being based solidly in established Trek continuity, then it pivoted to embracing Trek lore but attempting to put a modern spin on it, then it just decided to move away from established Trek continuity and become its own thing; and finally it is in its current season trying to do what they think are solidly Trek stories but they are just not interesting at all.

Discovery's biggest issue has always been it's self-inflicted identity crisis and uneven but mostly mediocre writing.

It also doesn't help that the few interesting characters the show has introduced were all jettisoned in favor of putting the spotlight squarely on Burnham and her bland ass crew.

He might mean it's less nuanced writing also.

discovery and picard never really felt like trek shows.

both are leaning a little too heavy on trying to be "adult" (ie nudity and more casual swearing)...picard is slighlty better, although tat could be moreso it also relies heavily on nostalgia.

discovery was good last season (minus the lame ass finale), but it's been boring as fukk so far

“Too many nikkas and homos on Star Trek” is a hilarious modern take that will never get old for me

We got a culture nowadays that wants to just plug into a franchise and become experts of it overnight, Because of this you get all time terrible takes on everything. nikkas be in the Dragon Ball thread complaining about established troupes and character patterns that have literally been around for 30 years

We also have a culture right now that likes to change source material to fit there agenda. The problem is you enablers opened a can of worms a long time ago.

I only use the term sjw because that's who they are, and I ain't trying to think of a new name for them. I know they see black men as sub human and inferior so I question black people that defend them.

I am not a black women and I don't live in my moms house, I don't get anything from black women/gay pandering, which isn't a problem. Being separated, attacked, disrespected, set up to fail, and not being allowed to have anything of value because your not a black women/gay is a problem, telling nikkas to vote for things that only benefit black women/gays then complain about losing and shyt.
