It was a Dre/Cube track before that for Helter Shelter. The DPG version has never been released either.

Helter Skelter wasmore like a compilation album like Tha Chronic and Doggystyle. This was the version of the song intended for that album.

Helter Shelter was a Cube/Dre collab album.

The Dogg Pound version has never been officially released (you're listening to a leaked version) and it was recorded after Helter Shelter was scrapped; it was actually intended for Dogg Food. This has been confirmed by former Death Row employees (i.e. Tony Best) and documentation.

Here are two interviews for Helter Shelter:

Honestly, I'm not really looking forward to any new Dre music. Dre is past his prime and I don't think he's even focused on music like that.

Dre is too removed from the scene, but has was also removed even in the 90's.

The main difference is that he would always find a young artist (and their homies) to produce around and keep himself relevant. The young artists were connected to the current scene and Dre could collaborate with them and make history. From Cube to NWA to D.O.C. to Snoop and the Dogg Pound to Em and D12, Obie, Hittman , Xzibit, on 2001, to 50 Cent and G-unit.

With the Compton album he didn't have that type of up-and-coming artist or talent. Kendrick worked on it, but they went too left field with it. If they had more tracks like "Compton" from GKMC and "The Recipe" ( :whoo: ) on the Compton album, they mighta had something. But again, Kendrick's style is a little different when he writes for Dre. People don't like Dre rapping like Kendrick. They'd rather hear Kendrick rap that way, not Dre.

Dre is in his 50's and worth close to a billion. Legendary status with several classic albums and works. At this point, the likelihood of seeing anything is slim.

i just don't think dre's had many artists that he's really been inspired by since 2001

and i think that changed when he finally got together a group that he liked, which resulted in Compton. Say what you want about the album, but it had a core of artists that make dope, fully fleshed out, non-generic music, and were able to put together an album that I thought was really solid. He produced the thing around them instead of using the "detox" style of production that we've been expecting for a decade, which i imagine is why a lot of people were disappointed

slim the mobster, bishop lamont, gage, hayes, and/or whoever else that he had on aftermath at the time were cool but they weren't exactly awe inspiring, super talented artists -- he was probably afraid that without artists he REALLY felt, he'd end up with another dr dre presents the aftermath type shyt.

Yeezus is a classic album. It's been 5 years since it's release I thought people would by now learn that it's a classic.

Unpopular opinion but 2001 is overrated. I don't listen to it that much compared to the chronic. Chronic is a masterpiece and top 5 album for me. Your post is spot on though.
