Thurman is a bad choice for several reasons:
1. He's unproven. He has yet to fight top competition at 147, so we don't know whether he's truly elite or not. He hasn't earned it like Maidana did. He needs more notches on his belt.
2. He isn't a big name yet. The PPV numbers would be terrible because Thurman's name hasn't been built up enough.
3. Is a he a true threat? This one is less important, bc who can truly pose a threat to Floyd, but Thurman isn't even the closest thing to a threat.

Because of 1 and 2, Floyd has no good reason to take the fight. It won't help his legacy and it won't get people to buy the ppv. Not enough incentive for Floyd, Haymon, GB, or Showtime.

I also think it's unfair to Thurman because he's just not ready. But hopefully Schaefer and Haymon will fix that by throwing Thurman in with Khan, Porter, Guerrero, or names like that soon enough.

There's always next year for Thurman if he can win 1 or 2 big fights before then.

Here's my current list for Floyd opponents for next year based on the criteria above:
1. Shawn Porter if he beats Kell Brook up.
2. Lara if he beats Canelo
3. Winner of Cotto/Martinez, so Floyd can be the lineal champ in 3 weight classes at the same damn time.
4. Danny Garcia if he has a good debut at 147.

This is probably what the Actual list for September looks like:

1. Garcia in his 147 debut
2. Khan if he turns his back on Islam.
3. Maidana again
4.Shawn Porter
5. Thurman

I honestly think Keith is more ready for Floyd than Porter is...Porter got the more worthy resume but Keith is the slightly better boxer IMHO...Regardless though they both ain't ready for Floyd yet, they need a few more fights...I want to see Keith fight that fakkit Khan before he gets a Floyd shot...

Danny is probably the best option at 147...He has name recognition and the resume...As far as skills go he has no chance at actually winning this fight, he is simply way too slow and doesn't bring the pressure like Maidana to at least make it interesting...I think Floyd's next big competitive fight will be next year for the middleweight crown...

As much as I fukk with Thurman, he's not ready for a Floyd fight. He'll probably be ready by next year.

Garcia said he's having one more fight at 140. So you can cross him off the list for September. Porter has a fight coming up with Kell Brook, so he won't be available for September either

Brook ain't taking that fight. He doesnt have the heart. Personally, I think it's going to either be Maidana or the winner of Canelo/Lara. I wish Floyd would fight Porter, but if he does, he loses. That said, financially it wouldn't make sense as Porter's name isn't where it should be just even after mopping Alexander and Paulie. Then there's the risk involved for Floyd, and after Maidana made it apparent that he's not invincible, someone more polished like Porter would pull it off. Porter has the right combination of bully and boxer to succeed where Hatton, Cotto, Oscar, and Maidana failed. Plus, Floyd ain't no spring chicken. He's not going to be capable of countering enough, nor keeping the fight in the center of the ring long enough which is why Porter won't get the nod.

I like Thurman, potential is there, but if he fights Floyd it will be like Lara's fight with Angulo. That's not to say Thurman is down on Anguo's level, but it's too early for him to be in the ring with Floyd. Not only has he not earned it over more deserving fighters, he's also simply not ready. That old G Unit song with 50 on the hook just popped in my head thinking about the prospect of Thurman fighting Floyd. "You say you're ready, you're not ready, we don't shoot no one on ones........"

Thurman is still too raw although I don't think Floyd would let him be the aggressor that Maidana was if they did lock horns. I see Floyd being a bit more elusive with Thurman, he seemed to have Maidana's most dangerous punches figured out. Thurman in my opinion is more unpredictable in terms of where his power shots will come from.
