My shyt was in the 700 range until I got a bunch of hard credit checks while I was in the market for a car two and a half years ago. According to my credit history, I hadn't missed any payments on student loans or whatever, my stuff was up to date, and I don't have a credit card of any kind to use, so I was like
because I couldn't fathom how my credit was jacked up on the strength of a dealership seeing if I had good enough credit to get financed or whatever it was. Turned out, said inquiries coupled with a relatively short history of things (basically dating back to student loans) was not a great combination.
So, I'm trying to dig on out of it. Couple friends of mine echoed
@Gaffgarion's advice about having credit cards and using them solely for one purpose (gas, grocery, etc.) and being hardline diligent on paying them off on time. I'm wary though.
