Ive been a fan of Lu's music since day 1. Ive defended lasers , and alot of the idiotic statements he's made over the years.

There's an internal duality that exists within him , that I find hard to reconcile. Its not just the " I'm Ferraried up, and I'm conscience , too" side of Lupe , I think its just his music in general. I'm closing in on 25 now , and it feels like his music loses its value the older I get.

How can you have a track where you implore black listeners to rise above being " nikkas" , yet use it gratuitously throughout the album ? How can you call a 17 year old kid "big homie" ? This is not GOD-like behavior.

Did he really say he'll go read up on a subject while writing a verse ?

One of my biggest gripes with LU is his energy.. I feel like most of his albums are all DOOM and GLOOM , where is the light ? (I.E. Im Beaming)

Its ok to let us know how fukked up things are , but you also have to offer solutions , let listeners know there is light and end of the tunnel. Its almost like hes in a permanent nihilistic-like state.

I hate to say it , but for me , his music has just become very ordinary.

Put em up , or Ital-Roses ? And how does the tracks age nullify his hypocrisy ?

How could your entire marketing scheme for Lasers be some fight the machine type shyt.. But after the album is released you revert to some "they made me do it" type shyt ? I now view LU in the same vein as MIA.. Revolutionary posers.

Of course .. Because you just said he only said nikka on one track -- conveniently ignored my response to that.

I hate this album. A lot of the songs that are on the album, I’m kinda neutral to. Not that I don’t like them, or that I hate them, it’s just I know the process that went behind it. I know the sneaky business deal that went down behind this song, or the artist or singer or songwriter who wrote this hook and didn’t want to give me this song in the first place. So when I have that kind of knowledge behind it, I’m just kind of neutral to it like, ‘Another day, another dollar.’ As opposed something like The Cool, which is more of my own blood, sweat, and tears, and my own control. With this record, I’m little bit more neutral as to the love for the record.

“There’s nothing really to tell about that record, to be honest. I didn’t have nothing to do with that record. That was the label’s record. That wasn’t like I knew the producer or knew the writer or anything like that. That was one of those records the record company gave me, [they even gave me] stuff they wanted me to rap about

Im struggling to understand what you're trying to say here :what:; TSGO and majority of lasers he had no creative control over because he refused to sign a 360 which was the reason why he quit working on the record and moved on to FNL2 II/Part2. Words I never said was intended to be a love song(obviously) he took out the bridge and rapped over it how he felt like it. Lasers was well documented to have been reworked 3 times. that's why songs like this

and this [ame=http://youtu.be/0OIznCDVMm8]Lupe Fiasco - What U Want (NEW) (Lasers) [CDQ] - YouTube[/ame] was thrown in the :trash:

technically right now, hes not even an Atlantic artist but they have to release his albums or they lose the rights to the record and he can bring it elsewhere. oh yea i forgot to :troll:

Haters got mad and are sensitive as shinbones
Had a Goodyear and my intention is to blimp on

Even if I'm injured I'ma limp into the end zone
From game one to the Super like Karrine dome
That mean I went to Disneyworld and you just went home
It's Lupe and I ain't from here
But they root for the away
Yeah they stunned there, huh?
Beautifully I play
Gatorade the coach and tubas need to play now
Usually I stay, but on the route for more truth for me to say

Whats your education level, God ? I'm not even trying to be funny. I said in a previous post , LU threw his hands up on some " The label made me do it" type shyt.. And you responded with a dismissive " you dont know what you're talking about" post.

I post the complexmag interview , and then you come back and essentially agree with my initial statement.
Do you need to go back and listen to lasers manifesto again ? "We want to think our own thoughts".. But yet you concede to the fact that the label even gave you stuff to rap about ?:stopitslime: (See above article)..

Dude ain't bout what he be talkin bout.. If you knew the process of the album , and how many of these songs came about , and how you didn't have creative control... Why did you sit on twitter for a month before the album release and promote this album to your fans ? Deluxe packages etc.. Telling them how good its gonna be

I understand you're a fan , I was , too. But dont make a fool of yourself , God.

music aside people like the OP suck!
Talking about calling a little man big homie
What does what a rapper do outside of music anyone's business?

It's like co-workers should not worry about what you do during non business hours.

Before the internet, which wasn't so long ago, nobody ever knew things to this detail about Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, Special Ed... etc...

It's completely irrelevant to quality of music
That means to you.. you are more concerned about an artist's celebrity status than their music
And that means you are a woman!

Just a few verses/hooks from 2011 till now. *Warning* - Really dark and gloomy stuff with no sense of hope or positivity in it at all.

I hope my stories can keep you off Maury
Away from weigh-er, far from mandatory
Which means, through the mail only way you see the shorties
Keep your sons out the slums and your daughters
Out of orgies
Look in the mirror, see yourself and adore thee
Whisper in your ear, I fear nothing that's before me
And always remember that you're royalty
From the line drawn until it's Porky
And everything that's in between
Make sure you cherish every scene
And put on the biggest show your adversaries ever seen
Now even if you've never limousined
Important, yeah you're very
There's red carpet everywhere

This one goes out to the baby girls
In a rush growing up in this crazy world
Yeah your brother on the road and he never home
I know you feeling kinda sad now that daddy gone
You can't let it get you down, gotta carry on
We only lose things because it make us strong
You always had my love, and now you got a song
From the biggest biggest fan that you've ever known
I know you won't be little girls, not for very long
And you ain't gotta have a man if you don't ever want
Cause I'm gonna make sure you got two of everything
That you ever want, every time, like your very own
Not to make you hard to respect
Just really really really really hard to impress
It's a whole wide world for you to go and get your hands on
Until then, just come and get your dance on now

Know that in this world you're never really on your own
God got a number get him on the phone
He'll never put you places where you don't belong
Put you through the pain, to put you on the throne
And I know that from the bottom of my corazon
And if they looking at you sideways
You just wave right back, tell 'em hi hater
Mad you ain't hanging with 'em in the driveway
Nah we gon' keep it moving to the highway
Strong is puttin on, the weak is all over like friday, chilling
Shout out to King David for bringing in Philly
And all my pretty independent women in the building, let's go!

And when I finally make it, I'mma stunt so hard
Evel as Knievel, I'mma jump so far
Way up in the atmosphere, I ain't coming back
Be a jerk to these jerks, yeah that'll make em hurt
Huh? Said the young boy in the mirror
A young version of me, so I started to tear up
He said, you need to cheer up, your mind need to clear up
You're already here, just be yourself from here up"
Then he disappeared and I felt something familiar
Something I was taught, something I had lost
If you are afraid, the fear that you gon' change some
All you gotta do is just remember where you came from

Just know I got your back, yeah I got it, and I will go to bat
Like Gotham's under attack I will spot em, keep you from ever touching the mat
Be your Robin, bring that onomatopoeia
Down upon all your problems like "zap! boom! bang!"
Cause all of y'all my pals
I tribune all your tribulations, channel through your trials
Please God, help keep the value in my vows
A man of my words that Vanna turns around
And if your fortune turns, I never turn you down
No matter who your healthcare provider, I'm a rider
Even if I gotta bring defibrillators out
A John Q on cue just for you
Peace sign

Hey shawty, ain’t no future in no gang-bang
And ain’t no manhood in no bang-bang
Ain’t no honor cleanin’ interstates inside a chain-gang
Know some rap nikkas put that shyt inside your mainframe
Pills make you stupid and liquor do the same thing
'Raris too expensive and they way too hard to maintain
Get yourself a Camry, "nikka said a Camry?"
Watch that ho depreciate and then you’ll understand me
It’s called being fiscally responsible
Don’t let these lying images up in hip-hop here conquer you
The TV’s not your father fool, that video’s not your momma
Try your best to be a man and your worst to be a monster

I know you’re sayin’, “Lupe rappin’ ‘bout the same shyt”
Well, that’s ‘cause ain’t shyt changed, bytch
And please don’t excuse my language
Cause I would hate for you to misrepresent
The true expression of my anguish
And by this far I ain’t shocked, upset, or appalled
I’m ashamed, bytch
I can’t listen if you ain’t sayin’ shyt
And recognize all this emptiness is dangerous
Ain’t buildin’ up they confidence, we teachin’ ‘em that they ain’t shyt
If they ain’t got the latest that they saw on someone famous
Mercy of the Lord on this double-edged sword
Instead of askin’ where the hoes is
Maybe maybe we could ask for roses

You remember where you came from, where the purses was stole
There was nothing in the oven and just work up on the stove
And you blossomed from the bottom, yeah, you worked with it and rose
From nothing to a dozen and a gardener now there grows

May we have some roses for the ladies
A little appreciation for the gentlemen
And here’s some kisses for the babies
Some peace-a-nalityfor the whole wide-wide-wide world
More patience to the youth, sympathy for the poor
Empathy for the old, more justice for the down, opressed
Treat no liar ITAL, Ai-yaa!

This one dedicated to the soldiers
Throw up peace signs in the face of bulldozers
Never bow down or wrap their body in explosives
As long as your alive, fight your whole lifetime
The Horn of Africa needs you
Callin' out to all you friends of the people
Be the change that you wanna see
Tell 'em no change just ain't what it gonna be

So again, I fight evil
This what I gotta do to live my life peaceful?
So be it, outspoken and low key it
My heart big, limousine no Fiat
And you can hear it loud every time God beat it
Love always shines every time I see it
Exactly what they hated is exactly what I needed
And exactly where I started is exactly where I leave it
Cause I ain't never ever ever change
I say that because I ain't never felt better mane
Beautiful LASERS, fans did me a favor, this is how I repay ya
Friend of the peeps, free Chill, Esco at peace
Holla at me if you see me in the streets
A picture costs a dollar, First and Fifteenth

ALL DOOM AND GLOOM FOR SURE. NO LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. SO ORDINARY. EVERYONE'S DOING MUSIC LIKE THAT. NO POSITIVITY AT ALL.

It seems you stopped listening to duke a long time ago, either that or you haven't been paying attention as much as you should. He's highlighting the bullshyt that other rappers aren't even trying to touch and injects positivity into the subject when he can. Sometimes shyt is fukked up and needs to be pointed out with no sugar coating. Dark songs like Unforgivable Youth, Lamborghini Angels, etc don't need a "light at the end of the tunnel." Sometimes nikkas need to see the ugly ass truth, not a positive spin on some "b-b-but...everything's gonna be okay right? :("

He's always had songs like that too, so it's surprising this NOW bothers you. You was rocking with The Coolest, Put You On Game, Streets on Fire, Kick Push 2 and them right?

Anyways, best wishes with your mission of spreading the (necessary) ugly truth and positivity. shytting on one of the only brothers in the game around even attempting to do so is a fantastic way to start. Bravo. Really.
