Dominican Republic has government policies in place in an attempt to literally lighten up their country. And, maybe it’s get better now, some families tend to peer pressure into dating lighter.

Mexico also has pretty big issues with ‘colorism’ as well.

That’s his natural DR tan. People lose and gain color depending on their sun exposure. You put some white Latinos in the heat long enough and they attain darkness, just like moving someone up to NY from Florida is probably gonna change their base tone

It’s true, as a light skinned kid I moved south from Brooklyn for 5 years, came back to Brooklyn much darker, and I’ve been pretty much the same since.
