yes, the slavemaster mentality.
The "I can take your scholarship away so dont play with me" mentality these power hungry coaches have by playing God with teenagers. And even tho I said slavemaster, this applies to players of all races in college ball an in pro ball. That shyt doesnt work in pro ball and they have no choice in college ball.
Why do you feel the need to mention this? The most, "no shyt" post Ive seen in here. Of course, and of course Parcells mastered this. Its why you dont see players coming out and calling him an abrasive a$$hole and why he was very successful.
The big difference between Parcells and Carlisimo is that Parcells had a sense of humor and loved him and would run through a wall for him. It wasnt true for PJ.

Players get their scholarships revoked often. More often than not, its through no fault of their own.

Im sure the players who shytted on Carlisimo, and Spreewell himself, have dealt with a$$hole coaches. THere is a difference between being an a$$hole but having your players respect, and being abusive and having no ones respect.
no, its the appropriate word. You have 18-22 year olds from poor backgrounds who could change the course of their lives by getting a bachelors degree or setting up a network by attending these schools.
These coaches know all of this and play God with the trajectory of their lives and control every aspect of their lives on campus.
As a Blazers fan I wasn't mad that Spree took it there. Wanted to choke him myself.

Though a four-time All-Star, a significant mark on Sprewell's career was an incident which took place on December 1, 1997, in which he attacked head coach P. J. Carlesimo during a Warriors practice. When Carlesimo yelled at Sprewell to make crisper passes (specifically asking him to "put a little mustard" on a pass[2]), Sprewell responded that he was not in the mood for criticism and told the coach to keep his distance. When Carlesimo approached, Sprewell threatened to kill him and dragged him backwards by his throat, choking him for 710 seconds before his teammates and assistant coaches pulled Sprewell off of his coach. Sprewell returned about 20 minutes later after showering and changing and again accosted Carlesimo. He landed a glancing blow at Carlesimo's right cheek before being dragged away again by the assistant coaches. It was not his first violent incident with the Warriors; in 1995, Sprewell fought with teammate Jerome Kersey and returned to practice carrying a two-by-four, and reportedly threatened to return with a gun.[3] In a 1993 practice, Sprewell fought with Byron Houston, who was 50 pounds heavier than Sprewell and had what many teammates describe as having a Mike Tyson-like demeanor and physique.
