I need someone in the Tri-State area to work with on a project

Hello,

I have an album I have been meaning to put out that will require about 10 instrumentals (this would be my first project). I would rather try to get help through here than to go to soundclick and search through tens of thousands of beats(send me any links though). I live in NYC and am down to meet up as I have a pretty flexible schedule.

This is actually a project I want to put out because I want it out of the way. Think like a Mood Music or Padded Room semi-depressing kind of feel. I don't really wanna make "that" kind of music, but its what I'm feeling right now so I gotta get it out of my system first, before I can do more fun universally appealing stuff. It actually is kind of put me in a somewhat depressed mind-state, so it makes it harder to have a good launching pad.

This is no troll-thread or joke or nothing like that. As for how you'll be compensated, we can discuss that. In the next few days I'll be looking through the music you guys already have available here. PM me or something. Peace.

yeah let me know man. I think I got the semi depressing dark sound you looking for. I also really really need to start making shyt with a focus as well so this would do nothing but help us both. @BlackDroog also got that grimey shyt on lock too...

Funny thing is that just walking down the street to the supermarket and having ideas flashing in my mind, its looking like it may be darker than I wanted it to be, so I may have to corral that. I don't really want it be be too depressing. Its more supposed to be about just everyday problems and stuff, more specifically ones that I face and faced. When you say dark, I keep wanting to tell you, I'm probably looking for more depressing Joe Budden and not really Necro-dark. But on the real, imma stop talking and not even come back to this thread until I have something better mapped out and done some instrumental research (next few days). I want to get this out of the way (as this was more recent in my brain stem), so I can then work on things which I've been thinking about for years. Also, because this won't really be that upbeat (at least not how I see it in the preliminary stages of planning), I wanna do it, then get my confidence up, and stop thinking negative, so it'll be all good from now on. For example, I wouldn't feel like doing a collection of verses over popular beats talking about how NICE I am (you know, just to build buzz), until I get this out of the way first.

What exactly are you looking for? Just producers and engineer work or?... I know a cat from NYC and I could probably network to hook you up with some others from around the area. I've also interacted quite a bit with this group from Waterbury, Connecticut (The MyNORS) that are pretty dope, but they make more of hippity hop, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy sounding music.

Props for the reply. Right now, I'm young in the game though (skill/knowledge-wise) so I'm not tryna rush into meeting anybody that's really doing their thing like that, cause that's like trying to put together some furniture, when you're missing alotta parts. That shyt gets annoying. I did that once and the result was something that sounded mad rushed. So, I'm taking baby steps, looking through different instrumentals, seeing how I would approach the beat, and then looking to just practice some vocals.

I'm pretty much a novice though, so I'm not tryna waste anyone's time until I can say "alright, I wanna do this-this-this, can you help me out with that?" Plus, not being a famous drug-dealer like all my favorite rappers, I gotta approach things more carefully cause time is money on both ends.

For now though, I'm a real novice and I got moreso ideas than technique and know-how, so I guess I'm just looking for beats and hopefully before the month is out, be able to write a whole bunch of verses on a whole bunch of beats, and then link up with someone, preferably face-to-face that'll make the product sound nice and not try to kill me money-wise when they see that on my end its just promotional for this first project and I ain't making money on it either.

Upping for the cause. I'm done with the writing part of this project. I did it in about 2 days. It is kinda sloppy, maybe a little off-beat now, but mostly was just used as motivator to get me writing, thinking about song concepts again and trying to capture a certain mood. I kind of gave myself a Sep. 30 deadline to have some recording done, so hopefully by then I'll be able to share something (i.e. the whole thing possibly as it was just a promotional purposes thing). Life issues got my cash flow low as fukk right now though, but Ima see what I can do to make it do what it do.
