I just started taking working out serious.I was lifting on and off last year and got some good gains but I couldn't be consistent.I'm putting a work out plan together and I need a cardio routine that could help me burn fat and tone my body up.
Can any one help me?

1st off u should limit the amout of fat and sugar that u intake. That will aid in gettin u cut. A good cardio routine can be anything from simply running for 45 mins to 1.5 hrs. To taking a kickboxing class, cycling, MMA classes, the stairmaster is a savage too. 1 hr on the stairmaster is a good way to burn calories. Any cardio vascular exercise that significantly raises your heart rate and maximizes your fat/calorie burning.

What would be a good amount of sugar and fat to intake daily

it's a lot easier if you can do some entertaining activity like basketball or something along those lines. I really don't see how people sit around and run on a treadmill for an hour. I get bored out of my mind.

Lol@ using a fitsugar link. Almost as bad as Shape magazine.

Also, OP, if you are trying to "tone" up, you don't need to do cardio for 1.5 hours like suggested above. You aren't training for endurance, it sounds like you want to keep muscle mass. Besides MMA, you can look into hiit and tabata too.

Are u suggesting that 45 mins to 1.5 hrs of cardio won't "tone" the op up? :upsetfavre:

Circuits and sprints will sort you out. Even 20 minutes 3 times a week of high intensity work that gets your heart rate right up will do the trick.

It will 'tone' him up and make him smaller too. You don't know wtf you're talking about, fraud.

This.

Steady pace cardio for 90 mins at a time is going to hold you back from substantial muscle growth, if that is your goal. Not to mention that it is extremely time consuming when you can still get good caloric burn in from shorter methods.

Will it help the pretty overweight and obese person lose weight? Of course. But dude said he wanted to retain or increase muscle growth, so I don't know where long distance type running is really going to fit into that for an average joe without an incredible Ronnie Lott type metabolism and genetics.

:mjpls:

:ohhh:

so you sayin that vid he posted was indeed a lease arrangement?

I'm gonna post a cell phone video of Lais Deleon squatting 300lbs on here, and Im counting on yall to believe it's me and sticky my thread.

Dont fail me.

Another simple method is doing something in between sets or exercises while lifting...

Like in between my pullup sets, i'll throw in some burpees/jumping jacks/running in place to keep the heart rate up...

1 hr on any machine at a good intensity always works...

Boxing....
