Truth...the 90s was the PEAK OF STUDIO GANGSTS RAPPERS

THAT'S WHY THE MUSIC SOUNDED SO GOOD....

THEY WERE GREAT AT PAINTING PICTURES AS CHARACTERS..CAUSE REAL GANGSTAS CANT RAP
:manny:

ICECUBE..NAS...BO$$...were all great artists

At a time when big budgets and videos could make the art imitate life

Unlike today..where most of these artists via YouTube and souncloud are embedded in the streets with affilations and money cause the industry isnt willing to manufacture artists like the use to do with artist development

So in this REALITY TV ERA...everything is being exposed

Like these dudes ...they really lived it and had no choice cause even an industry cosign from Jeezy couldnt save them from the streets

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/form...d-by-us-marshals-with-100-lbs-of-weed.130156/

Yup, all facts.

The young kids are even more crazy, reckless and I don't even think it should be applauded. The old guys did it better because it was two feet in the studio, not one foot in a gang and one foot in the music.

I am not talking about Bangin On Wax types or the real crips/bloods from the 90s. I am talking Chief Keef sitting on a million dollar record deal with an attachment for expensive head phones playing around with guys like Lil Reese and being tied to a rival kid being shot off the back of his bike. Those real gang members in the 90s on wax were not making millions even on their best days.

There was never a time when the majority of rappers actually lived their raps. This shyt has been WWF from the beginning. Joe and the Terror Squad are the exception, that was never the rule.

To be all the way real, rappers in the 90's was some of the most frontin' nikkas in the whole shyt.

nikkas was murdering a hundred people an album.

They had Colombian/Cuban coke connects, mob ties, villas in Costa Rica, and murda mamis pulling hits for them on their records, when at most they might've slung a few jumbos hand to hand in their hey day and was still sleeping in their parents crib even after they signed their deals.:mjlol:

@tuckdog and @OnlyInCalifornia speak the gospel!! :ohlawd:

you know back in the day....and i can attest to this being that im 40...

we had a saying ...."if he sukks at RAPPING then it's obvious he REALLY DOING IT IN THOSE STREETS"....

:russ:

thier was no bluring the lines like today...artists were artists.....

Too Short summed it up best on "LIFE IS TOO SHORT"...

"Do you wanna RAP or SELL DOPE????" :ld:

everybody stayed in thier lane...deejayed were just deejays..rappers rapped and the dopeboys and killers DIDN'T WANNA BE ON CAMERA!!!

thier was NO MULTITASKING....the budgets and the opportunites were TOO GREAT for artists at that time...

MTV EXPOSURE..ARENA TOURS....HUGE ADVANCES...

MUSIC was REALLY AN OPPORTUNITY to get OUT THOSE STREETS...

nowadays..MOFOS catch MORE CHARGES once they start recording music than they ever did before.....

INDUSTRY is not INSULATING them from that enviornment..in fact it further EXPLOITS it for the sake of STREET CRED and REALISIM

yet the INDUSTRY "GANGSTAS like LYOR COHEN..DOUG MORRIS..TODD MOSCOWITZ and LA REID to name a few..

don't face the consequences like all these "artists" taking PENITENTARY RISKS just to stay alive

the music execs are further insulated due to the fact that MUSIC COMES IN A FILE.....(MP3) and is promoted thru streaming and downloads

So they don't give a flying fukk.....as shown by the Bobby Shmurda's and countless drill rappers catching football sentences...

cause THEY DON'T SEE THEM AS ARTISTS like in the 90s....they know they dealing some REAL STREET CATS out here

posdonous said it best..."These nikkas not only TALK SHYT....these NIKKAS LIVE IT!!":lupe:

i've lived thru virtually every era of rap ...and all types of hoods from the carribean to the east coast and dirty south...

and nothing is more FRIGHTNING than the REALISIM that these artists are subjecting themselves and thier fans to at a show or anywhere near thier vicinity...

i can't count the amount of times i've interviewed artists or met them during this century in the 2000's and thank all mighty god that I WASN'T right next to them when they became the target for a "murder" (camoflauge)....or when them folks came to snatch them up for the feds (screwww)

now i sit back in my house "retired" from the industry and just say...

"damn it feels good to be a regular dude" :sas1:

Rap has always been entertainment to me. So I dont care if they lived or didnt live what they rapped about. Its all about the imagery that is being created or just liking the song and rhymes themselves. Some guys even rap about the lives of other people they have been around and it still sounds legit to me
:manny:

Its also the same reason why I listen to Drill music, but I cant relate to anything they are saying. I just like the songs :manny:

It's fukking disgusting.

The genre lacks passion because most nikkas only in it for the money grab and those who have/had actual passion lose it because of all the extra shyt.

But at the same time just because your passionate about rapping, it doesn't make you a good rapper or artist

Gotdamn you knocked that shyt out the park, breh. :salute:

If Nas came out today, I think nikkas would shyt on him and Jungle would be the star of the family because of the fact that he actually lived the life Nas used to rap about.

Like you said, if a nikka actually lived that life, most likely, he was not a good rapper because he didn't spend time observing life and perfecting his craft. He was too busy living it.

Nowadays, youngins would rather get behind a nikka that seems real and disregard the fact that he actually has no business making music.
