I like Dragonball like the next man. But DB fights can be repetitive

Pawgs with dragons
It is what it is at this point. If you want super strategic fighting shows, you've got tons of those like Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, Full Metal Alchemist; Brotherhood, Fate/Zero, Attack on Titan, etc. At this point DB is about power levels

That the fights can be repetitious.

Like i said im a fan of the series. But one thing that does bother me is how the series offers no change or versatility in its fighting.

Fights almost always is punch, kick, beam with some characters like Hit with a special ability but most are still just Punch, Kick, Beam

I understand DB is really a series about Alien Martial artist. But almost everyone fights the same it seems. Rarely do u see a change in fight style.

Compare that to One Piece and Naruto where fights r more diverse, characters have versatile abilities.

I dont even like Naruto. But one thing i give it credit for is characters having a variety of powers and Jutsus.

What yall think?
Every fight in Super has been goku fighting someone, he then tells them their holding back. They tell goku he is holding back too, they charge up. The goku says whoever is STILL holding back so has he. They power up again and the fight wraps up in two episodes tops.

After what we saw in TOP.

There is no reason . That we are seeing lack of special abilities and different fighting styles

TOP proved Ki can be used mutiple ways from illusions(that vampire like girl who fought Roshi in the vid I posted)

To Ribiranne and making Ki(her "love" ) hypnotiz people

That excuse of Ki is "limited" was exposed

Granted it prolly does have limits. But it's not limited where we can't get new abilities

Of course.

The series was lapped in that arena by shyt that came out in the same era, you don't even need to go as far as the GOAT One Piece.

But it came out when we was kids, so dudes are gonna shout over any criticism on some sacred cow nostalgia shyt. And the only thing that will stop it is when the next gen of kids starts yelling over them with Naruto/MHA nostalgia.

This is why I almost wish that Goku had been the only one. I miss Goku actually using his power pole and flying around on the nimbus. Tien, Krillin, Piccolo, and Roshi had some of the dopest special moves like the tri-beam, destructo disc, special beam cannon, evil containment wave, the multiform technique, etc. Gohan's saiyan ape transformation was also kinda like their ace in the hole.

(And as much as we clown on Yamcha, I really wish that Toriyama had done more with him and the rest of the human fighters. The wolf fang fist looked dope.)

Low key, the OG Dragonball tournaments are one of the best things about the series and definitely the best part of the series pre-Z, IMO.
