It was capturing the feel of the period really well and hitting on a lot of major issues. If you weren't of age during that late 1990s, pre-Bush period then I can see how it wouldn't hit as deep. Economy was rolling, the middle class was doing well financially, but something felt....off. As if corporate life and picket fence home wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Everyone was starting to feel like life had just become packaged and corportized but was stale as fukk.

There were MAD suburbian dystopia movies coming out that year. American Beauty, Fight Club, Office Space....all classics about middle class middle aged corporate males suddenly realizing they hated their life and needed to drastically change it.
lowkey the matrix was like that too

When it comes to movies about suburban White people problems, I always thought Little Children was better
Never heard of it, but I just read the plot on wikipedia and it sounds tough to watch. :picard:

Not that that means it ain't accurate though. :mjpls:

I get the connection but it's really lowkey. More subliminal tapping into the same cultural feelings than directly talking about them. American Beauty and Fight Club were blatantly preaching that shyt, and Office Space was pretty close to in your face about it too.

As an HBO junkie, ain't a damn thing good about six feet under, best I could come up with these past two weeks was that tart Rachel Griffith never showing the tatas, treme at least gave us maryse and Kim givens nude, I know my Deadwood fans was waiting on that one, in a interracial!

But back on topic, the movie was cool, I wouldn't break my neck to see again

I remember it being a good watch back in the day. Not amazing, but definitely captured a certain time and feeling.

It's a decent film. Overly praised and in my opinion forced narratives but maybe Spaceys best performance.

Felt like a tv series that would've came out in today's age actually.
