Its not the snow, its the ice. Its impossible to drive. The state of GA has about 25 salt trucks. The ENTIRE STATE mind you..

Nah man... the city of Atlanta...just the city has more salt spreaders than that. And 40 plows. So it could be at least double that when you factor in the state's equipment.

Niccas gotta stop with the excuses and misinformation and just call a spade a spade. After the 2011 snow, niccas were still unprepared. Mainly the state. But you can't let the city entirely off the hook either.

This is a matter of accountability. Niccas gotta stop coppin' pleas.

...30 salt trucks and 40 plows and still had a katrina like crisis over 2 inches of snow :laff:

:snoop:

Shyt is sad. You can't cop pleas on this. Miscues all the way around. Just hope people are safe.

Another poster linked this article, and I pulled what I think is the crux of the issue.

“Government, schools and business[es] closing at the same time, and releasing everybody out into the city was a mistake,” he told reporters.

Transportation officials are scrambling, but salt trucks are stuck in the same traffic that’s seized the rest of the city. They spent much of Tuesday trying to treat roads already crammed with drivers...

I will say, for at least a day and a half, forecasters have said the south would get hit, but maybe the forecasters there didn't foresee metro ATL getting the brunt of it... still businesses and schools possibly could have done better and the city and State leaders could possibly could have done more publicly to discourage travel.

Also, the mayor and governor's curious lack of making any public statement for several hours after the gridlock is something else.

I live in North Carolina, about an hour south of Raleigh, we just got about 3 inches of snow over night. Seems like they were a little more prepared than ATL though. I work for the feds they let us off early yesterday and I got today off. Same with all the local/state places as well.

Folks are acting like the world just ended down here but I guess it makes sense because people down south just aren't use to this shyt. I lived in Alaska, Germany and Indiana most of my life so I'm no stranger to snow and ice.

:patrice:... and :birdman: @ the underlined.

But yeah, NC doesn't play about snow. They'll cancel school for the next day if it's just a winter advisory. But metro A is also A LOT more dense than Raleigh city limits. So any misstep with dismissals, delays, etc. is gonna be magnified....times 10.

You in Goldsboro?

So they never treated any of the roads for ice in Atlanta before the storm hit?
