that has been me but for about 4-5 years now.

I used to be really heavy into (underground) hip hop. Hated the mainstream garbage and would have to search DEEEP for some good shyt. i'd spend hours sifting and finding new artists through numerous algorithmic platforms, active searching through sites like undergroundhphop.com (when it was alive) etc. and each passing day it just got harder and harder.

i eventually found the myriad of subgenres in electronic music. If i want more of a hip hop feeling, i'll listen to electronic trap which has GREAT bangin beats, variation, and most of the time doesn't even have lyrics which i love even more. i can dance and workout freely to it without the BS of all the dumb lyrics, plus it's WAYYYYYYY better than the hip hop kind of trap that is just low vibrational and not creative at all. :unimpressed:

examples:

or if i want some chill but still thumpin shyt:

Bass music in the electronic scene pretty much substituted hip hop for me and i probably will never go back. I am so out of the loop now that i don't even care and i see dumb shyt being listened to, shared, and touted on the hip hop corners of the internet that i just completely leave them now :mjcry:

I fully embraced being :flabbynsick::blessed:

My whip is strictly old school music, quiet storm shyt, podcasts, or books

I mean I still go through periods of listening to hip hop, so says my Spotify end of year review, but I don’t actively seek out new rap anymore. Would much rather spend that time on another chapter of a book

I get it. I've done it and nothing newly released was missed. It is cool to be exposed to other black artists in different genres. But, I've come back to rap, I usually rock with clean versions because honestly don't feel like hearing the additional obscenities.

To be honest, being in the gym basically everyday has forced me to listen to a lot of different music because after a while the dopamine hit/motivation gets stale and its mind over matter. Be in there listening to Gerald Levert and Christmas music
