The problem is there is a culture of clowning someone for being older and showing them disrespect among the Americans. In African, the Middle Eastern and Asian cultures you could never step to an elder because his family and even random by standers wouldn't let that shyt happen most of the time. Even the most savage nikkas would come to the aid of an elderly or innocent person. I remember once when some extremist kicked out and banned the sheikh at my mosque, next day there was an all out gun fight between the extremists and local thugs/militia men who heard about what had happened. The very next day the guy was reinstated.
