It's funny b/c several months ago I tried to show my cousin TMNT 1 or 2. And he was like, "I don't like these turtles"

I was like :beli:

These turtles aren't turtles for the kids, neither are the ones from the 90s, animated or live-action.

My niece loves the turtles. She's going to see this one but we all have a feeling she'll just be scared of it.

The turtles she loves are the TMNT turtles that are fully CG animated and serialized. Those are hers and other kids.

90% of people think the second 2 movies are crap. the 1st one is the only decent one and the second is remembered for the shytty Vanilla Ice song more than anything

Plus the coming out of our shells tour (which I loved as a kid, not sure how I'd feel about it now so I haven't watched it), and that God awful ninja turtles the next mutation tv show

20 years from now they'll rewatch it because they liked it as a kid and they will just realize that it wasn't a good movie. In our situation, I rewatched the original TMNT movie literally like 15+ years after and realized that it was actually a really good film. The cinematography, gritty new york setting and you actually became emotionally attached to the characters. The second movie is kinda garbage but the first is a legitimately good film
Haven't seen the new one but I agree with you about the first two films

i remember the cartoon & the first movie more than anything. i'm pretty sure i went to see the 3rd movie at cinemas but it was BAD and i knew that even then. thinking back i probably liked #2 as a kid but when i think about it the 2st one is the only one worth watching. i'll check out this new one but not at theatres

People are talking about how "amazing" this movie was.....but I guarantee you it won't be remembered by the kids of today the way the kids of my era STILL fondly remember the original TMNT movies(especially the first 2) in the early 90's. Why? I mentioned this in the other thread, but there's no emotional connection built in the movie with these characters. It's just forced punch-lines, forced pop culture references, forced serious moments that weren't properly built, etc.

We must have saw 2 different movies then breh. :manny:

This movie had more heart than any of the ones we had growing up.

And dat's exactly why da original 1990 movie was so good and has held up so well. It's a great film. It's not using a bunch of shiny new special effects to carry it. It actually had character development, great writing, and just made you have an overall emotional connection to da story.

I love da grittiness and "realism" to it. I wanted to give dis new joint a shot but da shyt was just terrible to me. Terrible dialogue, rushed plot, absolutely no depth at all. For me personally it's gonna take a whole lot more than fancy CGI to maintain mah attention. :ld:

:usure: Dis lil scene alone shyts on any attempt made by da new joint.

And we not go eam get into da emotions when Ralph was gettin dat work at April's apartment. :wow:

You got all that same emotion in the new movie too. Actually I thought it put a bigger emphasis on family and brotherhood than the original ever did.

You're always gonna look at that original movie through the eyes of a 5 year old kid so no matter what this new one is never gonna be able to compete with that. But for me personally I really enjoyed myself and dare I say it was the best one to date. At worst I believe it belongs in the same class as the original.

This movie succeeded on all fronts. Not only do I think it was a great movie for 5 year olds but sitting through it actually brought ME back to feeling 5 years old too. Can't give it any higher of a compliment than that.

:salute:

And I wouldn't put it on the same level as 1 but I'd put it under it. But again, why are we comparing? This isn't a remake of the 90 movie it's a brand new interpretation. I watch the current cartoon on Nick and love it, I don't sit and compare it to the 03 version or the 87 version or Next mutation; I Look at it for what it is and judge it based on those merits. Is it my fav? No but it's a damn good cartoon
