People are talking about how "amazing" this movie was.....but I guarantee you it won't be remembered by the kids of today the way the kids of my era STILL fondly remember the original TMNT movies(especially the first 2) in the early 90's. Why? I mentioned this in the other thread, but there's no emotional connection built in the movie with these characters. It's just forced punch-lines, forced pop culture references, forced serious moments that weren't properly built, etc.
Yes, I know a young childs brain doesn't recognize these forced situations, but they also don't resonate with the same feeling. Kids weren't even walking around excited after the movie. I didnt hear any "mommy that was AWESOME!" I didnt see any of the kids who were dressed up in ninja turtle apparel excited afterwards.

Sure the FX visuals are there, but the movie just comes across as very rigid, hard, forced to me. As do all these computer made movies these days. They're like current pop music now.....you "enjoy" (give it your attention while it's in front of your face/ears) it, but as soon as it's over it's completely forgotten. There's no soul in them.

I had a free ticket to this movie & saw it with my little cousin so I had nothing tied up in this and I was still disappointed.

I know most of you will disagree or say I'm too old, but who cares. :yeshrug: :manny:

20 years from now, they're still going to make NEW TMNT movies and they'll still generate $$$. This is literally a 30 YEAR OLD FRANCHISE and the fact people are still coming out to watch it is a testament within itself.

How do we know these kids won't remember it tho? I'm pretty sure plenty of adults said the same thing about the flick from 90 but here we are still talking about it today. My mom thought it was stupid and silly and for her son not for her and she was 100% right. Let these kids have their shyt and let time tell

20 years from now they'll rewatch it because they liked it as a kid and they will just realize that it wasn't a good movie. In our situation, I rewatched the original TMNT movie literally like 15+ years after and realized that it was actually a really good film. The cinematography, gritty new york setting and you actually became emotionally attached to the characters. The second movie is kinda garbage but the first is a legitimately good film

Basically. BUT when I was a kid I thought the 2nd was the best one..then I grew up. Maybe in 20 years they'll still like it because I know people who still stand up for turtles 2

But THAT'S the entire difference.

They may que it up 20 years from now and be like:snoop: "I can't believe I ever liked this"

Meanwhile, you can throw on TMNT 1 and see why it was so successful. It was just a good ass movie.

I noticed the same in my theater. They weren't tryna mimic the moves, quoting the movie or anything.
