Not really. Couldnt be any less close actually. Relating a competitive sport to some teeny bopper makes no sense at all.
It looks stupid to show up to root for the Heat when they just eliminated your team and you knocked yourself out of the series by punching a fire extinguisher. If that's a difficult concept to grasp you dont really get being a competitor I guess.
When RGIII is haning out on the Giants sideline during a playoff game maybe you'll see it differently.

This is an old school mentality. Lot of guys just don't have it anymore. It's pretty comical when you think about it. I mean..picture Larry Bird posted up at a Lakers game. Or MJ chilling court side in Detroit.
