Its hard to explain my issue with him. I just don't sense sincerity from him. Like, he is the type of guy I believe would be propped up by the Washington class as who they think would be a good candidate to fix their perceived "white working class' problem but at the end of the day is just another moderate. He is pro-coal. I understand he is from West Virginia but this position ignores reality and instead he needs to focus on helping and encourage West Virginia to diversify their economy.
If I was a talking head or political consultant type who stays in Washington 24/7 I would think this guy looks great on paper because he seems like a caricature, a stereotype of what I would think a "working class white" politican should be.
I don't know if this makes sense. I guess I'm saying it seems so inauthentic. I rather this guy run for the other senate seat in West Virginia and see what his voting record and patterns are before even thinking about the presidency.
My guess, the media in the early days of the primaries will say he is the dark horse and will win the white house. Chris Matthews will hop up and down in his seat about him but he will fizzle out quickly.
I'm still on my Chris Murphy and Sherrod Brown bandwagon. If either runs, depending on how the entire field looks, they will probably get my vote.
