Hyperbole aside,
America is a country started by wealthy white men who knew that the seeds of slavery's abolition were already sown.

Note how the decision was made 4 years before 1776. By today's standards, the slave owners that started America would be like elon musk, Peter thiel, Donald Trump etc. They did not want to pay taxes. They did not want to give up their slaves, and they did not ever intend on extending the right to vote to anyone who wasn't like them. America was started by oligarchs and so long as we are governed by the constitution they made, there will be no permanent progress in this country.
America is a country started by and for white men with money. I don't think it can be any more obvious than the fact that they let a man who had literally nothing else going for him other than his alleged money and his white skin become president. People who succeed in this system do so in spite of it, not because of it.
Until there is a new constitution, new supreme court, and the electoral college is done away with, this kind of thing will continue to happen.
It may not even matter because all those doctors, laborers, engineers, scientists, etc. Who aren't white men and have the means to leave, will leave. They've seen for themselves that the knowledge they worked so hard to obtain is absolutely meaningless in the face of a society that doesn't value it.
