When addressing the dearth of black female characters in Hollywood, Harrier is quick to note that the industry tends to favor light-skinned black women for key roles. "I've been afforded a lot of privileges being lighter skinned and given my background," she says, adding that "there’s definitely a lot of colorism." Pointing to other young black female actors currently gaining success in Hollywood, she continues, "When you look at the girls in my generation who are working now, a lot of us are biracial, and we need to be seeing a lot more representation throughout the experience of being a black woman."

It is also notable that, for BlacKkKlansman, director Spike Lee determined that Harrier's character Patrice was not biracial.

:comeon:

These biracial actress always say this after they take roles intended for monarchical black woman.

Sounds like a lot of :mjpls: babble from a tragic mulatto who wants her white fans - and, producers, casting directors, etc. - to know she's not THAT black, in spite of her role in Blackkklansman.

bytches like her are glorified ghetto gaggers. :mjlol:
But according to y'all biracials aren't black so what is the problem? If she accepted the responsibility of representing black women at large y'all wouldn't have it either so what's the right mentality to have?
 she still takes roles playing non-mixed black women.
Patrice Dumas isn't a real person.
Liz Allen is originally white.
Her role is Farenheit 451 was cut out but the character is originally white.
What roles?
:manny: She doesn’t even look biracial. But whatever.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh of course she does :sas2:

Then she should have remained quiet and refrained from qualifying her representation of black women. She wants to have her cake and eat it, too.

She's not trying to have and eat anything, especially if she's acknowledged being privileged as a biracial actress. You would take issue if she remained quiet on this issue in Hollywood, also, so like I said, there's no "right" answer or mentality. Be mad at Spike for not having requirements on what parentage shade of black his female lead should've been if he knew he didn't want or need Patrice Dumas to be biracial.

I don't represent all black people either. why black people got to hold it down for an entire race of people? I could jerk it to hentai, lose a bet, and fukk a cute chunky chick with pretty feet all in the same night.
i guess its a sign of progress?
there was a time black celebrities were bound to represent all black people, shyt even us peons were taught as youngins that our actions somehow had a direct impact on how the wider society viewed our race. Small burden to bear, individuality had to be curtailed for the greater good. :ehh:

She was not the least bit convincing in her role.
