He got revisionist history From being in fast 5. Like fast and furious 4 wasn't a hit he added to it but he wasn't the reason it blew up . The rock can act though so it's a plus but he was in that statham lane . Working cheapish flicks like faster . A constantly working actor which is good but not a real a-lister his wrestling profile though always helped him .

That wasn't the argument though . You need some hits to be a-list

Not really go look at clooneys last few movies they all made money and the descendants got him a Oscar nod . This is a bad comparison .he's not a action star and he doesn't do big budget action movies typically . Despite that flops are tolerated for Oscar buzz type movies anyway

Does anybody, including Dwayne, consider Dwayne to be A-list? He's getting roles and have a bit of name recognition. And having another high-profile career before hand can actually hinder an actor.

To go from a movie Tooth Fairy to something like G.I Joe is good for Dwayne. Character diversity can keep a movie career going for years.

Agree about George being a bad comparison. George also has a Hollywood pedigree.

:comeon: He has an action movie dropping every month for the next four months

That's the problem, he has been doing action movies for 10 years. He can't do it forever.

It's not about hits, people keep posting this shyt, he is successful, I just think his prospects may drop off soon as he is getting older.

The Rock went where the money is.

I thought he was the next action star after Walking Tall & The Rundown, but then he played the gay wannabe actor in Be Cool, did the utterly awful DOOM, and proceeded to go on the Disney movie route.

Thanks to WWE and Fast Five, he's back on that action tip.
And what A List Actor hosts a reality game show on TNT? If he really wanted to do it, he couldn't have shopped it to CBS or ABC?

Hell Chris Jericho has a game show on ScyFy
Jericho actually hosted a game show on ABC (Downfall), but it got canceled.

Rock can do action films for another 20 years aslong as he takes care of himself. He has a nice little niche just like austin has with the straight to DVD films.

Liam Neeson is 60. Stallone is 66, Bruce Willis is 57. The Rock is a mere rookie compared to them

Rock owns Team Rock, produces TV shows, and will always be in Hollywood mainstream flicks for as long as he wants to do it. His next move should be trying to get a role alongside the GOAT Robert De Niro.

I agree with you lol I though the argument was he is a-list :russ: I'm used to arguing with certain other posters who think he's the greatest .
After the get shorty sequel I thought he had a chance to do more dramatic roles he got alot of buzz for playing that character . he'd have to have slim down though I agree his build stands out too much , he would also have had to turn back on wrestling completely and risk failing horribly . He did southland tales but that movie sucked
:yeshrug: I can't knock him for going this route he had the best of both worlds and is rich lol . But he has way more potential than say stone cold or John cena who have no range or can't show their nontough exterior on film .
I wonder if they could give John cena a part in the fast 7 get him away for awhile lol

The same deniro that 50 cent works with lol .. But in all seriousness he can act he was just caught in the limbo of trying to be the next action star and being a serious actor . He's not hurting though makes money he's in the same niche as Jason statham And his movies are usually solid I'm seeing snitch in theaters has a great cast . Can't say the last rock movie I saw in theaters before fast 5

De Niro is the GOAT but he's done a gang of B movies with :fif: and besides Silver Lining has pretty accepted whatever trash movie people offer him

An established franchise and when the fukk did Money Ball make bank? What? The budget was 50 mill and it made 70 million? And that was like two years ago...LOL.

I know of his stats in today's era but just DOING the movie with him should be a goal of any actor...he does more comedy things these days anyway. I'm not sure if he accepts trash....there isn't anything good that comes out consistently anyhow. The Marvel and DC flicks are the only things people get amped up for these days unless it's some kind of weird flick that unexpectedly makes fetti...

But tbf De Niro has been playin more and more supportin roles over the past 20 years. Its not like hes the leading man in these shyttier films. If anything he gets 15 mins screen time if that, thats what them serious actors do when they get older, they step aside

What do you count as a hit money wise, making the budget back x 2? (lowest ball park figure)
