I don't understand NFL GMs and fanbases wanting "offensive gurus" as head coaches

:childplease: why do y'all let numbers fool y'all so much? Stats make it seem like the saints offense was the same this year but it was a huge downgrade this year. So many sketchy play calling, receivers dropping balls, and our offense losing us games. This is things that rarely happen when Payton was calling plays.

None of that may not have happened, but the Defense would have still been last and the results would not have differed much

Dont you see how the new rules favor offenses??

What does that matter?

The head coach almost never calls plays. Payton is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. The head coach can bring in an OC that takes advantage of those rules. That doesn't mean a largely unproven coach should get a shot at a HC job in the league.
