I just finished ME3 and I must say; ya'll were wrong. The game is dope!
I just don't get why folk were mad over the ending, to the extend that they were. Yes, it ends pretty a aburptly (I chose to merk the Repers--and apparently everymachine in the galaxy), you never learn who the Reapers really are or Shepard's fate or the fate of your teammates.
I've read a little, over the 'net and see 2 reasons; closure & your last choices not mattering.
Closure - There never enough closure to a game 100+ hour game trilogy. A Mass Effect 4 would be overkill. It's like ppl forgot about their imagination. To me; my Shepard is dead--along with the teammates that I brought to the final battle, with me--the Mass Relays are gone, so, most of the galaxy is stuck in the Local Cluster and they'll just populate every planet in the Solar System. The Reaper tech (Citadel, Mass Relays, etc.) had to go if you really wanted to destroy them. And so on and so on...
The only thing that was wack was; I didn't import my ME1 & 2 character (PC) because I bought 3 on 360. So, I didn't see the effects my own actions, but, it still was a great experience.
Choices - Ppl (before the DLC ending) seemed to want a perfect ending. It was a realistic ending, IMO. So many ppl sacrificed throughout the series, it almost seemed wrong that Shepard would make it unscathed. One dude was mad Illusive Man killed him, because, he didn't wanna do a Renegade action and pop him first. It just wasn't that big a deal. The game is about one thing...Stop the Reapers from destroying the galaxy. It wasn't gonna enrich your life to get a "atisfying ending.
