I don't even care about the back and forth with The Rock, CM Punk's promo yesterday

I disagree and the crowd was fukking DEAD for the 10 minutes he was speaking.

Watching it now and while he doesn't illicit the reaction that The Rock did, the crowd definitely wasn't quiet for the entirety of his promo. they booed, they jeered, they yelled, they were chanting the Rock's name in protest...they definitely weren't silent. Nonetheless, it's a good start to their feud. They both made a lot of people about their match, and I doubt any of us care about anything else the WWE is booking these days.

that's definitely hyperbole. as preachy and longwinded as punk is, this year has seen much worse promos. and at least he illicits a reaction on a regular basis and not indifference from the crowd like the miz, sheamus, big show, etc.

Please stay within the bounds of reality. The crowd was pretty dead for that promo and both Sheamus and Show draw consistent reactions.

It wasn't the worst I heard but it was long and forced. The lack of intensity, dead crowd, and length detracted from his setup for the Rock. If he just delivered the lines he did at the end it would have been perfect.

people reacted. it was definitely the same long and rambling, whiny promo from punk, but it wasn't entirely dead. if he didn't come out and do that promo, it would've been just 15 minutes of just the rock talking about trending on twitter and homoerotic insults to punk. pick your poison.

we can argue all we want about it, but the fact we're talking and debating about his promo means he succeeded at some level.

All dude said was that he's wrestled more dates and grueling matches than Bruno or Hogan during their time so he thinks he's better.

Of course the most important thing about that promo was Rock came out and the crowd actually reacted to what he said. But on TSC reactions don't equal quality apparently considering most people here are saying Punk got Round 1.

 let that turn grow organically breh

What did I say that's untrue? Reactions obviously aren't the main criteria when speaking on promos here. Cause if so no one would be giving it to Punk. Last night was what this feud will be all about. The importance of reactions or nice speeches not corny vs cool. Like I've said there's no ulterior motive here. I'm just buying what Dwya er The Rock is selling like I should have last year.

I did. I lost betting on a guy that I thought could bring the business back to prominence. A guy that I've seen since he was wrestling in indoor soccer gyms. But after the initial intrigue of that July summer he has fallen into the same place as every one else. But instead of owning up to this the E has stuck him with this I didn't really care about you the whole time gimmick. Knowing damn well that if he had succeeded as a draw that there would be little need for The Rock to grace us with his presence. And with that said with him back we get the best of Punk since that summer, we get the best of Cena, we get the E booking this whole thing months in advance. It's like everyone stops coasting completely.

I can't deny that, I can't deny the drawing power, the real fan support, and the fact that people are actually interested in the product again. I'm not gonna sit here on my IWC horse anymore and cheer for David over Goliath when David relaxes when fighting other David's :smh:

First portion was alright but it was a smark catering type of promo. It was still full of hypocrisy if you analytically look at it.
there was nothing hypocritical about it, he turned his cards in and admitted everything the rock was going to do he had done in order to rise to the top of the company because selling out in some way and making the people pay attention was the only way to the top. Ex. The lil jimmy/tyson kidd part and how these people aren't worthy of more deep, enthralling, complex, more thought out promos and angles and why the business is where it is so punk said fukk it, i'll just get my money while knowing in the best in the world and coming out every week to do it

the rock had a few good lines but the overly jokey shyt isn't gonna cut it for the next three weeks. CM Punk's motivation is he's the best and he's better than every one who ever wrestled. The rock can easily pull the attitude era card and say, with due respect, punk has never faced a guy like a young taker/hbk/hhh/eddie g/booker t/rvd/big show/austin/kurt angle/y2j etc. back to back where as punk's only legit competition throughout the year was cena/older jericho/older kane/d-bry/ziggler etc.

rock could explain how growing up in the business he's seen the terry funks, flair's, hogans, etc. and how they are great or even how in the end of their careers they realized that respect is earned and not given where as punk is the least respected champ despite longeivity and match severity. Throw a few jokes but hit him with some truth and the feud is worthy of going far

instead, we got naked men with candy on his bum jokes...
