I got some years on you…. My generation was having race riots in middle school and high school… was getting called the N word since about 7 years old, even from white adults….. shyt had mellowed out somewhat for your generation though, but y’all still went through some racial fukkery as well…

I’ve heard stories of it being real bad even past the 60s. But yeah, up until 10th grade when I transferred I went to school with quite a few white kids and I definitely dealt with racism of some sort. White kids I was friends with in elementary school switched up on me in HS, you could just tell who the kids were that didn’t fw black kids, hell I was dating a white girl and her parents took her out of school and sent her to a private school just cause I was dating her, I ain’t dated a white girl since. Kinda glad that shyt happened though because wake up calls are sometimes needed.

Then I transferred in 10th grade to a mostly black school in Montgomery where I’d end up graduating, which it was cool to be around more of my kind. The problem was that the school was named after Jefferson Davis, then across the interstate there was another HS named after Robert E. Lee so even if you didn’t experience hardcore racism, they ended up changing the name of the schools a year ago but up until then there was still that reminder that racism was still alive and well.

I’ve lived in Alabama most of my 27 years on earth and I’ve definitely experienced racism lmao

It’s not like how it was in the 50s and 60s, never been called the N word or anything like that but I can’t take any black person seriously that says they didn’t experience racism in this state, hell we face racism everyday with the politics in this state.

Breh I have been down here for like a few years and the racism is a bit casual and knee slap, versus Georgia's abrasive Onyx bald head aggression, and South Carolina's capitalistic fukk them "nikkas" but if they got the money they can fukk my wife racism.

It's a more "bless your heart" stigma, versus foot on neck cactastic type of demeanor.

Pleasantly surprised by such ordeals as it was embedded in my head that Alabama was demonically racist due to its past history.

I have lived all over the country during my life spending several years in every region. north south , east and west. alabama being one of those places.
Two things every place has in common
1) they all think people are more racist somewhere else.
2) they are all just as racist as anywhere else.

thats why i always roll my eyes when i hear this tired rhetoric, such and such place is the most racist blah blah. black people get treated like shyt everywhere. If you noticed different just means you were lucky enough not to cross paths with the wrong people during your stay.

I'm kinda confused by what you mean :patrice:

Cause Alabama is def racist as fukk. Whether its in your face or casual

From cacs scheming to siphon funding from public schools into charters to murdering black people and getting away scott free

Is the former not foot on neck? Cause the rammifications of such would hold our community back decades. Or do you only consider that to mean violence?
