It was a total business move. What we’re saying is Bey was already a rising star and would’ve a Black female star without being the queen of Black music/hiphop (tied to the king).
Imagine Rihanna’s trajectory. She was going to be a star whether or not she was tied to Chris Brown, etc. She was the Black pop star with universal appeal. Bey started in R&B but she was transitioning to pop(ular) realm. She was always going to be ok.
I agree.
She would have been a black pop star. But the level she's at now is greater than that. Untouchable because of her switching over to hip hop culture
The unlimited power that u see she has now, is because she became the "the baddest chick in the game" wearing dudes chain.
Black men started saying shes the best looking chick basically because jay had her and all black women started to look up to her, calling her queen.
And if u have black women behind u, u are invincible. That's why people always pander to black women.
It's am easy win.
But before that link up with jay... Beyonce and destinys child wasn't looked at the way we do Mary j blige, total, escape, Toni Braxton etc.
Rihanna is a good example. Ur right, shes golden and is getting money but she isn't invincible like Beyonce. Beyonce seems like a notch above her in the black community. Because she didn't take the same path. Rihanna pretty much stayed pop.
They both did R&B type music but it wasn't really for our culture. Like I said, neither one of them has the same history within the culture like MJB.
But everybody seemed to forget that
